The Organisation générale des amateurs de l’Eurovision (OGAE) — the global fan club for Eurovision — has announced the results of its annual Second Chance Contest. We’re pleased to say that our readers, who spent the past five months voting in our own poll, managed to predict the top 3 finishers—and in the correct order!
Helena Paparizou, Eurovision alumnus who placed fourth at this year’s Melfest, has emerged as the winner! She received a total of 259 points – and 10 sets of douze points. Looks like OGAE Sweden will be busy, busy, busy as Second Chance Contest hosts next year.
The Spanish representative – Brequette and her song “Mas” (Run) – finished second, just as she did at her national final. This time the backlash over her runner-up status isn’t as dramatic as in “Mira quien va a Eurovision”, but she still lost by the smallest of margins—just 6 points.
Catarina Pereira from Portugal ended up in third with 197 points.

Are you satisfied with winner?
I am disappointed with the winner, I have never liked Helena’s song but I knew that it has always been popular with fans. I would have loved to see Linnea Dale of Norway take the crown, as her song still gets constant airtime on my playlists….
Lithuania is underrated
Mi favourite was Finland… and of course Helena!
Brequette I love her song, but not her singing it. Sorry.
I would’ve preferred Brequette winning, but Helena is still an excellent winner.
Brequette’s performance still gives me chills. Loved her, and would’ve preferred her in ESC to Ruth, who had a less interesting song.
Sweden is far too overrated in this thing.
Well, everywhere. But in this thing in particular.
I’m happy of Finland’s placement, but Belgium and Albania should’ve been higher.
Survivor finally getting the recognition it deserves! It had stood out for me from the very beginning. Happy for Helena and Sweden!
I’m so glad that Helena and Brequette finally did’t win their NF. Sanna and Ruth were my 2014 favourites!
Yay!
Moment of complaining: Lithuania and Slovenia should’ve done far, far better than they did. Moment of complaining over.
What an exciting vote and fabulous winner.
SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@Charles – again, spot on. 🙂
Helena Paparizou even in this lineup has the below mediocre type of song, but hey, that’s Helena Paparizou.
So this is what Eurovision would be and sound like if the whole thing was controlled only by fans … the winner would be known many months before knowing who would even bother to represent the other countries … Thank God I live in a more realistic world …
Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Belgium and Slovenia were underrated… And I don’t agree with the winner & runner-up :p
Shocked that Belgium didn’t score better!
And really disappointed with the winner
