Last week we told you how the Dutch participants of Eurovision 2014, the Common Linnets, had won a prestigious EBBA (European Border Breakers Award) and that they were also in the race to win the EBBA Public Choice Award! Here’s how you can vote for them.

By clicking on this link you can vote for your top three acts in the EBBA Public Choice Award. The other nine acts beside the Common Linnets are: MØ (Denmark), Todd Terje (Norway), John Newman (United Kingdom), Indila (France), Milky Chance (Germany), Melanie de Biasio (Belgium), Klangkarussell (Austria), Tove Lo (Sweden) and Hozier (Ireland, who was in our Wednesday Wishlist selection of artists we’d love to see participating at Eurovision 2015).

Common Linnets album platinum
Ilse and Waylon celebrate their platinum awards and remember the good times of Copenhagen

Gold everywhere

Next to that, the Common Linnets’ self-titled album ”The Common Linnets” (being original is not their forté) was certified gold in both Germany and Austria, after going three times platinum in the Netherlands! The group received their gold albums on their European tour through Amsterdam, Berlin, London, Vienna and Zurich.

With all this great news, we can say that the Common Linnets are doing really well after Eurovision. And as you know, lots of great artists like to return to Eurovision (think Carola, Lena, Paula and Ovi). Would you like to see the Common Linnets on the Eurovision stage again? Can Ilse repeat the group’s success without Waylon?

@eurana: You should have understood by now that despite the Eurovision performance, The Common Linnets were always a Ilse’s band project that featured other artists. It happened that Waylon was on one particular song … the one we all witnessed as the runner-up at this years’ Eurovision. But make no mistake, The Common Linnets were always and remains a Ilse’s own project … Waylon has always been a solo artist that ended up being featured on the song to duet with Ilse … and the song itself was written without Eurovision in mind (like it happens with all great songs… Read more »

Frieda is Abba without Agneta ?
Maria is Tomasesky Sister without Anastacia ?

@Chris: You must know at some point in your whole line of thinking that by wasting time judging me for my freedom of speech (yeah I do dare to mistrust Conchita’s character, big deal!) and by trying to convince me that what I’ve said should not be said (there are other gays out there with a bit more of conviction than a Phoenix song)… that you are betraying yourself with your own words. Not acting according to your own preach? I mean … “keep following the sausage”-too much? Next year someone else will win Eurovision and you won’t even care… Read more »

@Charles you know it is possible to love the Common Linnets without trash talking Conchita. It just makes you look pathetic, especially when the Common Linnets have nothing negative against Conchita. Grow up, she won, get over it. There are plenty of terrible things going on in this world and having a bigot making fun of someone for not following traditional and outdated gender roles shouldnt be one of them.

This is what happens when you stay connected to the true art of music, you get awards and gold records without even winning the competition but proving though you had the best and most honest music moment … with no fake beards involved. What about the winner? Well I guess up until now it has all been too much like “Keeping up with the Sausage” …
