Just over 9 years ago in 2005, the EBU commemorated the 50th anniversary of the Eurovision Song Contest with a show called “Congratulations”, which took place in Copenhagen.

Now as the contest reaches its 60th edition in Vienna next year, another special show will be produced to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Europe’s favourite TV show, this time by the BBC according to Tuner.be.

It also goes on to mention that Petra Mede, who hosted last year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö, will host the show alongside Graham Norton, the BBC’s Eurovision commentator for the United Kingdom since 2009. Further details about the upcoming show have yet to be announced.

Since it is the diamond anniversary, I think the winner/s of Eurovision should get (a) diamond/s. Make the Eurovision count more for the winner/s – but be more transparent in the voting and less corrupt.

Petra YES!!! Anke would be amazing as well.

In my opinion, Germany deserves to host the show as they take it far more seriously than UK.

@ fatima , i think it was a matter of which broadcaster was willing to host it and the necessary finances etc.. not of it being an honor etc

What have the BBC done lately to deserve this honour ? Apart from it’s own dedicated TV coverage, the rest of the corporation consistently berates the contest. They didn’t even show “Congratulations” and should stay out of it this time.
