Our Ukrainian-Congolese Queen Gaitana has put music on the back-burner since political tensions in escalated in her homeland. However, she surprised us all yesterday with the release of a new track, “you’re all that I have”. She’s returned to her sultry roots by presenting us with a chilled out, piano ballad about love.
The song begins with a simple riff and doesn’t pick up much pace throughout the track. Gaitana’s soothing voice blends with the minimalist instrumental perfectly and sends us all into a state of complete calm and relaxation. Despite the track being soft, there are plenty of high notes oozing class and power towards the end.
Those who were fans of her upbeat “Be My Guest” and found Gaitana’s dance music a nice change from her classic lullabies about love designed for children all over the world may be a little disappointed with this new offering. After all, it’s simply a woman and a piano. But with Gaitana’s unique and beautiful voice, that’s what makes it great.
