LISTEN: The Full Version of Conchita Wurst’s My Lights Charity Single Is Online Now

Conchita Wurst – winner of the Eurovision Song Contest – has unveiled her new single ‘My Lights’.

Though the song might be familiar to Austrian fans as a cover of a 2013 charity single for “Licht ins Dunkel” Conchita has more than made the song her own.

A theatrical ballad similar style and scale to ‘Rise Like A Phoenix’ the triumphant chorus seems almost too perfectly suited to Conchita.

She croons, “My lights are on, the doubts are gone and I have won.” The almost magical instrumentation through the middle 8 lends the song a Disney-like flavour and Conchita’s vocal is effortless.

It might be a cover but from how well she owns it you’d never know. Clips from the night of her victory and her victorious welcome on return to Vienna are interspersed through a music video created with Director Curtis Ryan Woodside.
