San Marino

Speculation has been rife as to what San Marino plan to do for Eurovision 2015, particularly in light of the recent goings on in Luxembourg.

Today SMRTV, the San Marinese broadcaster, released a brief press release stating that all will be revealed in November. A specific date has yet to be given, except that the announcement will be some time after Junior Eurovision on 15 November.

The statement confirmed rumours surrounding a possible collaboration with Luxembourg, but stressed that the micro-state was also evaluating other options.

Regardless of what the station decides, it’s unlikely they’ll be sending three time representative Valentina Monetta. Earlier this month she posted the following status to Facebook.

Valentina Monetta No Eurovision San Marino

Until the big reveal, let’s enjoy the very first San Marino entry from 2008 (it’s not all about Valentina and Senhit ya know).

Who ever it is, this person should represent San Marino three times in a row just like Valentina. I honestly think that it was a smart strategy for Valentina to take part three times in a row considering that San Marino is not a very popular compared to other countries taking part in Eurovision each year. Her triple participation helped her country get some recognition for once!

Since 2014 is Valentina’s last time in Eurovision, I’d expect Pharrell to represent San Marino next year. Or Michele Perniola, he’s 16 now.

Yes, Miodio! Discovered this song earlier this year or late last year and was stunned it didn’t advance to the finals. Still in my iTunes.

A possible Valentina Monetta return (without Ralph Siegel) could be lovely – a record in the Eurovision history: four years in a row. But, I am also happy that we’ll see something new from San Marino. I hope that means there is no Ralph Siegel for a while and we’ll hear something younger. Well, I actually want to see Valentina without Ralph Siegel. A song by Swedes etc., she would make it to the top ten. Imagine that Monetta singing “Undo”, probably she would get the same result with Sanna. So, it is all about the song and voice; not… Read more »

It can be Modio or Senit again, you never know. Or Michelle Perniola who is 16 now. Maybe Valentina will return in the near future
