In recent weeks there has been immense speculation about who will sing for the Netherlands at Eurovision 2015. Today Dutch newspaper “De Telegraaf” writes not about Alain Clark or Trijntje Oosterhuis (with or without the Ladies of Soul). Instead they’re now reporting that it’s likely Dotan will represent The Netherlands in Vienna this May.

Who is Dotan?

Dotan Harpenau is a 28-years old singer-songwriter. Born in Jerusalem, he is the youngest son of the famous writer and painter Patty Harpenau. His musical career started in 2010 when he signed a contract at EMI Group and made his debut album in Los Angeles. That album earned him the 3FM Serious Talent Award. But his big breakthrough came this year with his album ”7 Layers” and his song ”Home”. Dotan’s newest single is called ”Fall”.

What do you think of Dotan representing The Netherlands in Vienna? Do you love his live vocals or what?

I thought that this is article is about Turkish Can Bonomo because of the photo.

I really like his sounds but still hoping for Laura Jansen. Ballads, country songs brings success to the Netherlands for two years but I guess it is time to something new, like electropop/pop with quality such as Laura Jansen.

Azerbaijan haa been sending ballads since 2010, they did well in four years in a row – then the fifth ballad finished fourth to last. So, don’t do the same thing every year. Search for the new genres.

Goodness – that would be amazing. A warning, though: if word gets out that he’s doing it, Eurovision will be overrun by obnoxious American fans like myself.
