Nadezhda Misyakova will open the Junior Eurovision final on Saturday, and it’s now clear she will set the bar very high. Nadezhda was the last artist to take the stage, bringing an end to the first rehearsals. She was simply amazing and her staging left the press corps with its collective jaw on the floor. Nadezhda and her dancers have managed to bring the indigenous imagery from their promotional photos to life. They wear Pocahontas-like outfits (which will no doubt become more elaborate later in the week) and once again carried a traditional Belarusian horn. One of the highlights of their act — no, of the day — was their LED screen. It begins with the swaying hay we saw in their promotional materials and eventually transforms into a red forest. It’s mysterious and captivating and completely original. We love it. Naturally there’s also a giant hawk — the “Sokol” in her title” — on the screen. Watch out for this one…

Belarus: Exotic and crafted stage performance. 5. Slovenia: Quiet power. Based on the voice and the song, nevertheless it does have a nice presentation. 6. Cyprus: She really is fantastic, but as a dance song a think it could… Read more »

Nadezhda easily has some of the best vocals out of all the artists this year. The whole performance is truly amazing and Belarus is rising to number-one on my list.
