You’ve heard their entries. You’ve even voted in our poll. And after a fantastic opening from this year’s Junior Eurovision representative Federica Falzon, all 20 semi-finalists performed in tonight’s semi-final. The show was hosted by Daniel Chircop and Lyona Xuereb Gatt and took place at the Marsa Shipbuilding, which hosted this year’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest last week. However, only 14 acts can progress to tomorrow’s final. And so, in the order they were announced on the show, here are your Malta Eurovision Song Contest finalists…

Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2014-2015 Finalists

Chris Grech – “Closed Doors”

Glen Vella – “Breakaway”

Jessika – “Fandango”

Trilogy – “Chasing a Dream”

Christabelle – “Rush”

Franklin – “Still Here”

Lawrence Gray – “The One That You Love”

Karen DeBattista – “12, Baker Street”

Daniel Testa – “Something in the Way”

Dominic – “Once In a While”

L-Ahwa – “Beautiful to Me”

Amber – “Warrior”

Deborah C – “It’s OK”

Ekklesia Sisters – “Love & Let Go”

Sadly, we’ll have to say goodbye to Lyndsay, Iona Dalli, Raquel, Domenique, Danica Muscat and Corazon. A expert panel of five juries each evaluate the entries, making up 83% of the overall vote. The other 17% comes from the televoting results. The voting method also applies to tomorrow’s final.

Update: During the press conference straight after the semi-final, it’s been confirmed that Glen Vella will start the show and Daniel Testa will be the last to perform.

What do you think of tonight’s result? Do you agree with the lucky finalists? Let us know in the comments!

There are many good entries but i am grateful that it is the professional jury who decides to win because some great songs would do well in the eurovision and other great ones would not. I very much hope that the song which can actually win malta the eurovision wins :)ask yourself that and your answers will change.

My #4 (Raquel) and #5 (Danica Muscat) picks went down hard, but my top 3 (L-Ahwa, Franklin and Chris Grech) are still in the running.

Jessika SKYROCKETED up my rankings now, so good for her. I’m disappointed about Raquel not qualifying, the only real issue with her performance was that she was wearing a blanket lbh.

OMG
I wanted, I NEEDED Raquel to be in the final!
I don’t like L-Ahwa or Lawrence Gray, but I hate “Closed Doors”, sorry Chris; but I prefered Raquel or even Domenique!

Really disappointed that Raquel didn’t qualify. Her song was a breath of fresh air between all the ballads. Anyway, I didn’t she the live show and you guys say she didn’t give a satisfactory live performance. If “Warrior”, “Closed Doors” or “12, Baker Street” wins tonight I will be completely satisfied by Malta. Don’t ruin it you filthy juries!

Amber is the less attractive remake of last year’s Helena?

Damn. I suspected that Danica might have a problem qualifying for the final round, but Raquel failing to qualify is a big surprise. Those were 2 of my top 5, and all 6 who missed the cut were women.

I am so sorry for Raquel, first.
And afraid that they are planning send the nuns to Vienna. 🙁
Amber is the greatest favourite of me, now and hope that she’ll win. She does have a very strong entry which also got the potential to win Eurovision, after some edits.
And L-ahwa, I hate Gianluca. His smiling face is so irritating. And they don’t have a winning song.
Please pick Amber tonight, Malta.

LOL, Sopon, that’s true though. I’ve never quite had the words to describe the system in Malta but “publicized internal selection” is perfect.

Chris definitely has the best quality song of the competition, but whether it can win the comp – I dont know – but I hope so. The nuns have a big chance because they have a novelty song – and its a good one – and these types of songs can attract lots of attention and votes. Jessica has the other song I like. Amber’s song I am afraid does nothing for me – it doesnt quite get to the level I would like – but oh well – that is only my opinion.

@Mavision 6 juries, not six jurors. Each jury gets a seventh of the vote, and the other seventh is given to the public. I presume it’s to reduce the influence of individual jurors and to lessen the impact of potential bias by jurors.

Never been a fan of Malta’ NF. It’s basically a publicized internal selection.

So sad that Raquel didn’t qualify, but her performance was weak – barely English. The same could be said for Jessika to be honest, so I think she has been lucky. Sad to see some of the girls go! Especially Lyndsay, It’s not a Eurovision song but I liked it some how. Good luck to all the finalists!

Not exactly sure how 84-16 is fair either. 6 people basically weigh the whole decision then, yes? Yeah, pretty much fixed for whoever they choose.
