Having received a lowly 68 entries, which is just 8 more than last year, broadcaster TRM has now shortlisted 50 entries for the next stage of their national selection process. For the first time in Moldova’s Eurovision history, the shortlisted candidates include foreign artists, who were allowed to submit songs for the very first time this year.

Among them are a few familiar faces, one of them being 2010 Eurovision representatives Sunstroke Project, who teamed up with Olia Tira in Oslo. (Who could forget the classic Epic Sax Guy?) They have submitted two entries “Lonely” and “Day After Day”, with the latter being a collaboration with Michael Ra.
After her early exit in Switzerland, former UK X Factor contestant Kitty Brucknell is once again trying her luck in Moldova with “Yearning”. Moldovan newcomer Alexandru Carabetchi was due to compete on Moldova’s national selection process, but his entry “Flawless” was disqualified for plagiarism.
The next step in Moldova’s national selection process will be the live auditions, rescheduled for 17th January 2015 to give foreign artists enough time to prepare. The national final O melodie pentru Europa begins with the two semi-finals on 24 and 26 February, with the final on 28th February.

Oh, how much I love the Moldovan transparency each year. 🙂 After listening, I can’t but notice – Moldova has “up to date” music on par with, lets say Denmark, UK, Norway…ROMANIA…which is very pleasant to hear. Well done Moldova! Actually, Moldovan musical scene has Romanian influence in being modern, but in contrast, Romania always sends sub par songs on the ESC stage in contrast to their current musical scene that produced countless great tracks. Okay, just to clear up the confusion once and for all.
TRM has eventually published the full confirmed list on their website. And I can now confirm to y’all that Sasha Bognibov’s “Wounded Swan” is definitely not on the 50 entry longlist. #teamwoundedswan no more sadly.
