She’s been wowing audiences for weeks on The Voice of Romania, and last night Aliona Moon’s amazing journey peaked as she sang in the grand final. Unfortunately, she didn’t take home the title and the €100,000 prize. Tiberiu Albu won the competion, with the 2013 Moldovan Eurovision representative finishing fourth.

Of course, the  “O Mie” singer didn’t go down without a fight. And as always her star shone brightly. She began with a rendition of Frozen’s “Let It Go”. Looking every bit the Disney princess, complete with an elegant gown and tiara, it was a case of Idina Men-who?

Next she was joined by folk singer Mircea Baniciu. Together, they sang the Romanian song “Andrii Popa”.

Finally, she and her coach, Smiley, sang Sam Smith’s “Stay With Me”. We can safely say that Smiley was overshadowed by his pupil.

We’re blaming Aliona’s final placing on Smiley’s song choices, which failed to showcase the Eurovision star’s true potential. However, we should congratulate Aliona for her progress and we hope that Smiley will make good on his promise to make her a household name in Romania. To be honest, we’re baffled as to why she isn’t one already.

To come fourth out of thousands is no mean feat. We can’t wait to see Aliona’s next move.
