The EBU has today published the full list of countries taking part in Eurovision 2015. As we already know, three countries  Cyprus, Serbia and Czech Republic  will return to the contest. Sadly Ukraine is withdrawing from the 60th edition of the contest, dashing our hopes that they would make a last-minute return funded by Mika Newton’s producer.

The EBU has also decided that, because of the odd number of participants in the semifinals, 16 countries will compete in the first semifinal and 17 countries in the second semifinal. The semifinal draw will take place on January 26 in Vienna.

I think if Israel were to withdraw, Lebanon will début (again). To be honest it is always sad when a country (or more) withdraw, but I don’t honestly think I will miss Ukraine. They send good songs, have the nicest participants you probably could ever meet but they do usually vote for neighbouring countries (not always giving the highest points). I know Ukraine for most of you is your favourite country at Eurovision, but when like Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina withdrew, I don’t remember anyone saying they will be missed. On another note, I think it is a good… Read more »

JESCGermany15 I don t think so, that we have 46 coutries in Eurovision 2016. Maybe we have no 46 maybe 38,37…. if Israel failed to get good result in 2015, i think we don t see Israel at 2016. If Serbia, Macedonia, Slovenia, Montenegro finisih bad as at Euroviison 2013 a poor result in 2014 for Slovenia and Montenegro, maybe we have only maximum 1 or 2 countries from 6, maybe Kosovo and one older countries from ex yu zone. If Czech finish like they did in 2007,2008,2009 we don t see Czech in 2009 and that we get that… Read more »

Yay! Shame they couldn’t get 1 more to make it 40, but never mind it’ll still be fantastic! Can’t wait for the semi-final allocation, it’s going to be so interesting to see where the Czech Republic are, I hope they reach the final so we can still hear them next year! Also TRAINCHAAAA haha! I hated the song at first but now I’m addicted to it 😀 Think the UK may score it highly due to it being so upbeat and catchy.

I’m so happy that Greece and Israel didn’t withdraw although it seemed they were going to. And if they did,I wouldn’t blame them, especially Israel. It’s a shame that Israel’s last two entries didn’t qualify. I tried to figure out the reason but I’m afraid the reason is the name of the country. Moran and Mei’s voices were beautiful and their songs were not only quality but catchy as well. I hope the next time Israel will get a credit it deserves. And Ukraine, you will be missed.

Was hoping for a last minute miracle from Bulgaria. Also sad to see Ukraine but understand their situation. Hopefully more come back next year, maybe even Morocco?

I think the next ESC will be great with 39 countries! But Ukraine will be miss! Hope they brodcast the show! But 2016 will be great because I think that Bosnia and Herzegowina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Slovakia, Turkey and Ukraine will be back. And if Liechtenstein will debut and nobody withdraw, we will have 2016 46 countries 😉

While participating in Eurovision should take a back seat to ensuring that their country stays alive, Ukraine will be missed.

I hoped we would get more than 40 countries in Vienna, it feels so long ago.

but I am happy that there are two more countries than last year and that Czech Republic came back .

ESC 2015 Big 5 Wishlist:
France – TAL
Germany – Cascada AGAIN!!!
Italy – Too bad Emma (2014) won’t be in Italy’s selection again. So I’d hafta say Lara Fabian or Nina Zilli.
Spain – Ruth Lorenzo or María Isabel
UK – Jessie J, Ellie Goulding, Olly Murs, Charli XCX, or One Direction

Ukraine withdrew for political reasons, their state broadcaster has never funded their entry anyways. I am not keen on seeing them return anytime soon for this foul play.
