Other Eurovision winners may have 15 minutes of fame, but Conchita has at least 15 hours. As 2014 comes to a close, she has emerged as the Queen of All Media. From the Google Trends annual report to newspapers in Croatia, she is on everyone’s year-end list. So it was more than appropriate when she appeared on Graham Norton’s special New Year’s Show last night on the BBC. She reprised her winning Eurovision song “Rise Like a Phoenix”. Her attire was a bit more subdued than at ESC — she doesn’t need glitter and sequins to shine — and the lighting was a mellow blue. Well done, Conchita! This marked Conchita’s second appearance on the show. She previously appeared as a guest in the aftermath of Eurovision, and discussed how Cher told her she needed a better wig.

If she won due to the “message”…it wouldmake the victory even more unfair! It’s a music contest, not a contest for statements!! But I think she won because people liked the song….

I agree that the song was performed immaculatly, and the song had an amazing finish, but it’s message gave it the push over the winners line. I love the song anway. Stil listen to it now. Also last nights performance made my
mum realise why Conchita won

DR, I don’t agree completely because the song is both powerful and memorable. And the live performance is immaculate. We saw it at the London Preview Party, at Eurovision and again on Graham Norton. Without those pieces of the jigsaw, she would not have won the contest!

I’m so happy she is being loved in the UK. On one hand it showed her message has struck a note with the British public, which shows the UK in a good light. On the other hand it shows the UK is becoming more in love with Eurovision. It’s a shame Molly hasn’t got more exposure. Maybe not as much as Conchita, but atleast more than zero. P.S. No one on this page has said it yet, but stop telling Conchita to focus on her music. To be honest she didn’t win on the quality of her song, but overall… Read more »

We in the UK have really taken to Conchita! She was mentioned in most of the year-end programmes – Big Fat Quiz, Alan Carr, Graham Norton – a real talking point and a true celebrity in the eyes of many. Good job Conchita, looking forward to Vienna!! 🙂
