Four years ago Linus Svenning lost his brother Jim to chemical pneumonitis. Following that tragedy, Linus turned to music to cope. He eventually submitted the song “Bröder” to Melodifestivalen 2014. The moving number took him all the way to the #melfest final, and we sat gripped in the audience when he delivered its touching lyrics: “What can you do when a heart bleeds? The night goes well, but the day is difficult.”

Over the weekend we were incredibly saddened to learn that Linus and his family now find themselves facing even more difficult days. Aftonbladet reports that his younger brother Rasmus is now fighting for his life in a Lund hospital following a violent car crash in Malmö. Apparently his injuries were so bad that paramedics initally thought he had been shot.

Linus took to Facebook over the weekend to thank all of his fans for their support.

Want to thank for all the support and all the positive messages, memos, phone calls and text messages.

My beloved little brother Rasmus was a passenger in a car that crashed, a single vehicle accident.

Right now the situation is good for the driver, but it is still critical for Rasmus. It goes in the right direction but a lot can still happen.

There is not much more to say at present.

I want this to ask the media to respect that we do not have the strength to comment on this. I and my family and friends want to put all the love, power and positive energy of Rasmus and his recovered. So please do not try to reach me right now.

We are thinking of Linus and his family during their difficult time.

Oh wow. I am lost for words. I really feel sorry for Rasmus and the rest of his family. Especially after Jim died from chemical pneumonitis in 2010 (I thought it was a car crash as well.). Very sad. 🙁 🙁 🙁

So sorry to hear about the accident. My thoughts are with him.
But I’m not going to pray to a god. It will not make any difference.
