“The Next Star”, the singing reality show that will choose Israel’s representative for Eurovision 2015, is moving into second gear, and we already have the first five finalists. Among them is Orit Biansey — yes, the Israeli Beyoncé.
Here’s the score. Forty-five acts advanced from the first auditions, and now they’re singing to the death in round two. During each show a group of 15 contestants are invited into a “rehearsal studio” and before they begin to sing, the judges pop up from a secret room right next to them. During the impromptu audition the judges vote and every singer that passes waits in “The five room” (there’s only room for five people in it). If the judges would like another contestant to pass after the room is full, they have to ask one of them to leave and make room. #sorryboutthat.
Here are the first five finalists who advanced from the first show on Tuesday:
Sari Nachmias (The cool chick)
(+Bonus video of “Wicked Games” unedited)
Orit Biansay (The Israeli Beyonce)
1st audition: “If I Were a Boy”
2nd audition: “When I Was Your Man”
1st audition: “Always on the Run”
2nd audition: “Ruach Stav (Wind of Autumn)”
David Maman (“The flirter”, a name given to him by judge Harel Skaat)
Almog Nashawi (The oriental singer)
1st audition: “Ani Gitara (I’m a Guitar)”
We’ll learn the final 10 finalists next week.
Which artist did you like the most? Who do you think would excel for Israel at Eurovision?
@Jak – I don’t believe any of the artists you mentioned is even remotely interested in a Eurovision adventure. Whether it’s the IBA or Channel 2, as long as the broadcaster isn’t fully engaged in promoting the winning performer and doesn’t initiate exchanges with other European broadcasters’ representatives, then nothing good will come out of this year’s participation and in years to come. If the artist himself doesn’t have strong financial backing, endorsements from commercial firms or a good PR agent who can get him or her booked on as many TV and media appearances throughout Europe, he/she might as… Read more »
This may not work at all.
I support an internal selection by IBA.
They do have such great as Yael Deckelbaum, Emily Karpel, Riff Cohen, Umlala, J.Viewz, Lorena B…
@Dhani – That’s the official line, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the rules will be bent should the winner of The Next Star is not ready for a Eurovision exposure. After all, The participants auditioned for the current season without being told in advance that the winner will actually represent Israel in the contest, so it’s possible that either a runner-up is sent in the end or that the production will come up with a limited ‘spin-off’ format of The Next Star to determine the ESC performer from a narrow list of present and former participants. In any case,… Read more »

i think that if Israel does not make the grand final in Vienna they will withdraw
is it official confirmed that the next star will in fact be the israel national selection for vienna?? cause eurovision.tv has not written anything about it
I want to see The Young Professionals / Raz Shmueli / Oren / Roni Duani on ESC 2015 🙁
‘The Next Star’ has so far proven to be an anti-talent and anti-music show when we haven’t yet heard a single song from start to finish without the deliberate voice-over and editing in favor of the judges’ blabbering and the hosts’ cheerleading nonsense, with the exception of Sari whose bonus video was only released on the website. Until we see them perform live without silly editorial distractions, there is no point in making black or white observations. Sari may have found her own voice and artistic sensitivities, but who can say if she’s got the confidence and the maturity to… Read more »

She could be the REAL next Lena. One like Lena’s Stardust songs could bring Israel to the final back with a top five place.
Just announce her as the Eurovision representative, because the others are simply shit then colloborate her with Sonny Boy Gustafsson. This is the formula of Jerusalem 2016.
I’m quite the fan of Sari Nachmias.
