Anggun Cipta – our favourite Indonesian Eurovision star – is going pan-continental. And we’re not just talking about her music career. In June 2015 she’ll appear as a judge on the first ever series of Asia’s Got Talent, a regional version of Simon Cowell’s Got Talent franchise. The show will be broadcast across 20 Asian countries and will feature the usual mix of singers, dancers, comedians and no-hopers.
The “Echo (You And I)” singer will be joined on the panel by Taiwanese-American actor Vaness Wu, Canadian record producer David Foster, and wait for it – Spice Girl Melanie Chisholm aka Mel C aka Sporty Spice. Colour us excited!
It’s official: @Anggun_Cipta, @officialdfoster, @VanNessVanWu, and @MelanieCmusic are the #AsiasGotTalent judges! pic.twitter.com/igUOxEJUqd

Judging from this playful Twitter exchange, the spices are already sizzling. Shall we just make Anggun an honorary Indonesian Spice?

Anggun is already a dab hand at talent show judging, having sat on the panel for X Factor Indonesia, X Factor Around The World and Indonesia’s Got Talent. And lest we forget, she also critiqued last year’s French Eurovision hopefuls on Les Chansons D’Abord. The lady has global talent show domination in her sights, and she won’t stop until she’s dethroned Simon Cowell. Needless to say we have no problem with that whatsoever!

Anggun is the Mel B of Asia..if you know what I mean 😉
Proud of all the judges. I won’t miss a single episode of Asia’s Got Talents
@Robyn I liked the NZ’s Got Talent panel. It’s better than the Ireland’s Got Talent panel. (Ireland’s Got Talent doesn’t even exist. If Simon Cowell sold the rights to RTE, it would be John Creedon, Dana, Amanda Brunker or Linda Martin and Daiti O’Sé on the panel. With Derek Mooney/Ray D’Arcy has the host. A few Eurovision connections. 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 Or I wouldn’t be surprised to see Gay Byrne host it.)
At least on the Asia’s Got Talent panel we have a Eurovision connection. 😀
Funny, I know Vanness Wu. I have no idea if he had any prior musical impact towards the European audience, though. He’s probably barely known in the US due to his appearance at Jason Nevin’s remix of Run-DMC’s “It’s Like That” music video.
mel c said on twitter she would have a big announcement .. pity it wasnt that she would be doing eurovision !!
OMG!!!!! Good Luck ladies on embarking your new journey! Much LOVEEE…
So 2 of the judges have an Asian background but are not living in Asia. And 2 judges don’t have anything to do with Asia at all. In a continent with billions of people there were no celebrities capable of being a judge on this show?
It was Mel C b-day yesterday (12January) and the asians receive the big gift.
