Germany, Elaiza, 3

Talk of Unser Song Für Österreich is getting hotter by the minute, and today German brocadaster NDR added even more heat to the fire when it revealed the 7 professional acts who who will fight for the ticket to Vienna on 5 March. They’ll do battle with each other — and with an eighth “wildcard” act, chosen from a field of lesser-known artists in February. NDR Entertainment Coordinator Thomas Schreiber described the pre-selection for the 7 acts as an “intense battle”.

First Seven Artists for “Unser Song für Österreich”

  • Fahrenhaidt
  • Faun
  • Alexa Feser
  • Mrs. Greenbird
  • Andreas Kümmert
  • Laing
  • Noize Generation

Fans of The Voice of Germany will recognise  Andreas Kümmert – he wowed the coaches at his Blind Audition and won the show in 2013.

Fans of Unser Song Für Dänemark will be pleased to hear that Barbara Schöneberger will return to host both the “club concert” and the national final.

Now that NDR has revealed the first seven artists, we are really curious to know who will win the “Clubkonzert” on 19 February — and the wildcard that comes with it. Ten unknown artists will have the chance to perform in the wildcard show. Last year’s representative Elaiza managed to win the wildcard and then the final! So it’s still wide open.

At Eurovision they finished a disappointing 18th place:

Do you think any of the professional talent can do better? Sound off below!

No really big names are in the race.
The best known are
– Mrs. Greenbird (X-Factor winner)
– Andreas Kümmert (the Voice-winner)
– Laing (2nd place in the Bundesvision Song Contest?)

I think that Laing can be a very good choice. I really hope they have a strong song.
