This Eurovision season has been filled with manifestation, sanctification, and adoration as the quasi-religious songs keep on rolling in. wiwiblogger Robyn wrote recently, “It’s pleasing to know that somewhere there’ll be a lady warbling about helping the children,” and between the Sisters Eklesia, Eteri Beriashvili, and now former UK Eurovision entrants Jade Ewen and Andy Abraham, she could not be more correct! That’s right, y’all. Jade and Andy are finding God and going on tour as Godspell in Concert kicks off!

Broadway.com describes the hit 1970s musical as being “composed of various musical parables from the Gospel According to Matthew. Jesus Christ recruits a group of followers and teaches them various lessons through song and dance. Toward the end of the second act, the show begins to follow a more linear narrative as Jesus is betrayed by Judas and eventually crucified.”

The Godspell in Concert tour will kick off in April at the Hackney Empire, and the cast will feature prominent stage actor Tom Senior and The Voice alum Leanne Jarvis. Kenneth Avery-Clark will direct the production, with all music honors going to Russell Scott. Andy will play the lead role of Judas/John the Baptist, but it has not been announced who Jade will play.

With Jade and Andy being responsible for the best and worst placing UK Eurovision songs of the past decade, we will be interested to see how the Godspell production goes. Is it a blessing or a curse? Or will there be a little divine intervention?
