In just a few years MTVA’s A Dal has emerged as the Melodifestivalen of Central and Eastern Europe. This year the show is getting even glitzier, as MTVA has decided to expand its backstage coverage. Last year Eurovision 2013 alum ByeAlex served as a digital commentator, while Kriszta Rátonyi and Levente Harsányi spoke with the artists backstage. Well this year fans won’t just get backstage commentary. They will get a whole new aftershow called A Dal+.

That’s just one piece of info that MTVA has released to whet our appetite. Csilla Tatár, a fesh face at MTV, will host the live shows. Afterwards M2 (the second channel of MTV) will broadcast A Dal+, where we’ll meet the artists and they will let us know what they thought of their performance and what they think about the results. Csilla Tatár won’t be alone during this half-hour show: Levente Harsány, who will work the backstage by himself during the live shows, will join her.

Duna TV to Broadcast Eurovision

There’s also change afoot with this year’s Eurovision broadcast. In recent years Hungarian Eurofans watched the Eurovision Song Contest on MTV, but this year Duna TV will broadcast the shows. MTVA has modified the content of its television channels, and from 15 March MTV wil become a news channel, while all entertainment shows will be broadcast on Duna TV. 2010 was the last time MTV didn’t broadcast the show because that year Hungary didn’t compete in Oslo.

A Dal starts next Saturday with the first ten acts and we can’t wait to see the live performances.

I’m so glad that Hungary has really upped the quality of A Dal and is proving to be quite a force in Eurovision as an underdog come into the spotlight. They’re gunning for a win, and I can only hope it will be 2016 in Budapest!

After missing out on Hungary’s NF for the last few years, I think this year it’s finally time to tune in. Hungary brings some really good songs.
