It’s time! In few days, Cyprus will finally select its representative for Vienna through the Eurovision Song Project. Six entries will participate in the final on February 1, and they’ll have to impress the public and a professional jury. To get them ready for the big day, the Wiwi Jury — our in-house panel of musical unprofessionals — will review each of them. First up is Nearxos Evangelou and Charis Savva with their Greek-French song “Deila Den Agapo”. Did we love the fusion? Or did we feel like they were having an identity crisis? Read on to find out…
Robyn: I like a dramatic ballad, even better when it’s a duet, and bonus points for the bilingual lyrics. This song is like a really rich piece of cake. I wouldn’t want every song to be like this, but on its own, it’s an indulgent pleasure.
Score: 9/10
Deban: Very few foreign language songs appeal to native English speakers. “Deila Den Agapo” isn’t one of them. Sounding like a jingle for a laxative, it’s slow, dreary and has an uncomfortably sedate quality to it. Even vote rigging wouldn’t get these two to Vienna!
Score: 3 /10
William: This starts off super boring, but it becomes a bit more compelling when the female singer enters. She seems to really be feeling it, but at times that makes her look like she’s giving birth. Watch those harmonies, y’all. During the chorus it gets a bit screechy and could easily steer into car crash territory.
Score: 5/10
Billy: I would be really happy if “Deila Den Agapo” represented Cyprus at Eurovision. It has a lovely composition and lyrics, and that chorus! It is indeed a little boring at the beginning, but could be helped with a beautiful video wall — de rigeur at Eurovision. Practice your French and everything will be fine!
Score: 9/10
Judit: I don’t like the first half of the song. One word comes to mind: boring. Then they let their voices out and a miracle happened. From boring it becomes beautiful. It’s still not my favourite. Maybe later…
Score: 7/10
Sami: It starts as a very boring ballad, but I love how it grows. Her voice is beautiful, but they really need to werk their live performance. I can see it performed on the Eurovision stage. The performers just need more confidence and experience performing.
Score: 7/10
Patrick: This is an absolute stunner! “Deila den agapo” is the perfect mixture of Greek drama and French self-assurance and it really has a perfect melody. The singers sing amazingly well and I believe that it would work perfectly in Vienna. With a bit training you could do amazing!
Score: 9.5/10
Kristin: The song starts well, but after a little while, I feel like it turns into a screaming contest, and it gets a bit irritating. I’m not a fan of this duet, but I do wish them all the best though.
Score: 3/10
The Wiwi Jury Verdict: 6.94/10
a completely mess song!
Yes LOL send the Cyprus jury as TV exponed so hard and got the performers stand as ridiculous puppets and statistically figures overshadowed with bad songs
Only song worth sending. Please choose it Cyprus!
LOL Ani, yes, that is what they should do. It was really bad earlier on when the singers only sang a minute and a half of their tune.
I thought this entry was dreadful… those high-pitched parts do not sound good.
I’m with Deban. It seems like a ripoff of “Rak bishvilo,” which I did like marginally, but this just does nothing for me emotionally. I’m always for a really good dramatic ballad, and we need a few of them, but this’d better not be the best one this year. Plus, once the full orchestra enters behind them, they both seem to lose control of their voices.
I just looove duets with dramatic songs, especially if they’re in greek. The beginning should be better but I love how it grows and their acting on stage. Her voice is stunning. Million times better than Without Cyprus In The Final…oh sorry it’s Without Your Love actually
I think Cyprus can send the Cypriot jury as their entry after promoting them in focus in every each program. The artist auditions only had come in the background for the jury talk show so why not send them to Vienna and hold audition talk show on stage?
I agree with DolzeVita, her French pronunciation is really quite poor. I wouldn’t have known she was singing in French without knowing beforehand, it’s really difficult to make out more than a few scattered words here and there.

Everyone should watch the video that @DolzeVita posted. It will make you love the song even more.
An absolutely amazing song

The main problem of the song is the (bad) accent of the girl singing in French. C’est compliqué de la comprendre, it is complicated to understand her!!
This is an amazing song! Hope It will represent Cyprus in Vienna 2015! This song has an amazing story and so much feeling! We all believe that the female singer Charis who also represent Cyprus in Junior Eurovision can really bring a top 5 place in the contest! Good Luck Cyprus vote wisely!
