Krista Siegfrids turned down an invitation to compete in Melodifestivalen. Taking part in Sweden’s selection for Eurovision is a dream come true for most artists – but not for Krista Siegfrids. Krista, who is starring the second season of Finnish show Tähdet, tähdet, made the shocking revelation in a recent interview with Frillan and Prillan (who by the way is Finland’s Eurovision 2012 representative Pernilla Karlsson).
Why did she turn it down?
They wanted Krista to sing in Swedish. As an international pop singer she refused the honor and therefore isn’t competing in this year’s #melfest. Krista commented:“It would’ve been amazing, but the song just wasn’t the right one”.
Krista represented Finland at Eurovision Song Contest 2013 with the song “Marry Me“, but placed only 24th. However, she returned to perform this amazing medley to the UMK 2014 final last year. Aside of taking over opera in Tähdet, tähdet, she is also working on her new album.

Wow. I never seen the video above before. Amazing! Krista does not need to do melodifestivalen as she IS Melodifestivalen all on her own. She is great. When’s the next album Krista and when are you coming back to London?
I don’t think it is wise to reject the Melodifestivalen just for the language. But if the song was not good enough, she made the right choice.

She got the right to turn it down if she really doesn’t want to, but I would be really happy seeing her in Melodifestivalen 😀
