Hej Danmark! Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2015 — Denmark’s national selection for Eurovision — takes place on February 7. So the Wiwi Jury — our in-house panel of musical unprofessionals — are dishing out our opinions on all 10 songs. Next up it’s Anti Social Media and their song “The Way You Are”. They’re the bookies favourite to win the whole thing. Were they our favourite too? Read on to find out…

Reviews: Anti Social Media’s “The Way You Are”

Deban: There’s a playful ease to this entry and although I’m not advocating a victory for Anti Social Media, it is by no means the worst presentation. Sounding very Brit-pop, this track would appeal to British and Irish voters. There’s a chaotic energy about the boys. “The Way You Are” slightly nods to hooliganism, but at the same time, it makes its mission clear. Youth is all about being cheeky 😉

Score: 5.5/10

Denise: I already told you guys that I don’t like the song of Marcel & the Soulman group. Well this is the other song in the Danish selection that I don’t like. Two out of ten. Not a bad score, right! This song will probably be staged with the four guys standing next to each other wearing suits and trying to swing from left to right in the rythm of the music. Seen it all before…

Score: 3/10

Mikhail: What a cheerful song! It really made me smile. I like the positivity. Special points for Conchita’s cameo in the video.

Score: 7/10

Anti Social Media 2

Ramadan: The song sounds very Brit-pop and I quite like that. I can see this owning the stage on Saturday. There’s a reason they’re the bookies favourite to win Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2015. However, there’s a missing element in this song. It just seems a bit old-fashioned.

Score: 6/10

Robyn: I really liked this song the first time I heard it, but it hasn’t quite remained a favourite. As well as having a great band name, Anti Social Media also seem like thoroughly nice young men and will probably put on a lively show. But the song is just a bit old-fashioned.

Score: 7/10

Sami: Argh, this song is so annoying and so is his voice! I hate how in the chorus all the words are made to sound so looong. It’s not really modern either. We could’ve heard something like this in the 80’s too. I’m not liking this and I just hope the Danes don’t decide to send it to Vienna.

Score: 1/10

William: I like that they rhyme “movie star” with “caviar”, but beyond that I’m struggling to find something positive to say. The song just rambles on and I’m left waiting for a climax that never comes. This is like a bad Oasis B-Side that they wisely rejected. However, Anti Social Media are lovely guys and I’m sure they will have lots of success regardless of what happens at DMGP.
