It’s still more than a week until ‘Amanecer’ is revealed, but Edurne, Spain’s Eurovision 2015 singer, is already taking on new projects. Yesterday we learned that she’s going to sing in the latest Disney movie, Cinderella!
Even though Edurne would make a great Ella (yes, that’s how you say Cinderella in 2015), Disney Spain revealed yesterday that Edurne will only sing the last song in the end credits of the movie, which is scheduled to premier on March 27 in Spain.
Together with the promotion of the movie, it’s been announced that Edurne will answer questions about Cinderella’s song today via Twitter. Will she reveal anything else about her Eurovision entry? Feel free to ask her using the hashtag #EdurneResponde (#EdurneAnswers)
The title of the song is still unknown. In fact, very little is known about the movie soundtrack yet, but given the precedent, maybe Edurne is about to sing an Oscar-winning song…
Edurne is not the first (and probably not the last) Eurovision star to lend her voice to a Disney soundtrack. Gisela (Andorra 2008 and backing vocalist for Spain 2014) is a total Disney-movie girl! She sang Frozen’s ‘Let It Go’ in both Spanish and Catalan and she was also the star of the Disney-themed musical Beauty and the Beast.
Apart from that, and as a curious fact, both Gisela and Edurne finished sixth on their edition of Operacion Triunfo (Spain’s version of Star Academy). Will they share the same luck at Eurovision? Let’s hope not!
Edurne will be represent Spain at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest. She will sing ‘Amanecer’ in Vienna, which will be published on the 1st of March.
