On Saturday evening, during the final of Lithuania’s national selection Eurovizijos, Switzerland’s Mélanie René released a new version of her Eurovision song ”Time To Shine”. Critics said the initial version was a tad boring. Not anymore! She’s tweaked the production, brought the strings into sharper focus, and generally given the song more drive. It really is her time to shine…

You can barely hear the difference and it is a good thing, cause it’s a very good song and major changes would ruin it. Bravo, Melanie, great performance!

Well, it’s an improvement. The song sounds less rushed, chaotic and awkward than before, but I don’t think it’s enough to make it qualify. I feel like Melanie, Amber and Aminata will appeal for the same audience and eat up eachothers votes. Not to mention that if Mariete wins in Sweden and Jenny wins in Norway the second semi is going to be a giant clusterfuck of dark moody female balads.

She literally just needs a new song. The melody is just so messy. If Switzerland really dont want to do that, then make the beat 10x stronger, the synths 10x louder and the ethnic elements 10x more prominent. You’re also gonna need a MEGA powerful stage performance, rather than this bride’s made look.

She sounds like a great singer with beautiful voice, but I think that she deserves a better song. In my opinion, the guitar solo is not helping this song and it seems that Melanie is not enjoying it either. That guitar solo should be replaced with something else…

I like it better. I like Switzerland’s choice now. But the Lithuanians in the audience didn’t care…sorry Mélenie.

I feel like it’s the weakest of the “dark” female ballads. Georgia, Malta and Latvia all have that “oopmh”, that power behind it. This just ticks along. Whilst I prefer it slightly to Malta, it doesn’t have the same power, and I feel it will falter due to this. Still a 4.5/10.

I still love the song, even more with the additions to the backing track. I think with the right staging and a good draw it’s going to do well in SF2

I can make that instrumental on my pc with free software which means it’s really boring and cheap. Lyrics is so cliché and hateable. Don’t like this at all although the chorus is kinda catchy.

This is far, far better than the previous version in my opinion. I really hope it will qualify, so far the second semifinal seems really interesting, the usually weak countries (like Switzerland, Lithuania, Latvia) are sending really interesting songs. I’m definitely looking forward to it!

Im sure now that this wont do well, maybe qualify for the final but thats it. The song is very chaotic. She is a great singer but she does not know how to sell the song. An artists has to give it all each single performance imho! She’s just so boring to look at. I dont expect her performance to be different in ESC to be honest.

The new version is better as the old! I really like it that the percussion is more intensive!

This is the type of song that can either qualify and place within the Top 20 or place last in its semi. I personally like the song a lot, but it’ll be interesting to see how Europe feels about it.

Switzerland looks as clear qualifier from second very weak semi-final.

I’m glad they revised the percussion since it was very distracting in the original version.

Finally they revamped it! Still don’t like it though.. the production is cheap, but I’m sure it’ll be a grower for me.

This song only works if the camera presentation and general stage presentation are strong, especially during this boring guitar solo. Not impossible, but still a piece of work to get done for them.
