Ever since the announcement that Russia will participate in Eurovision 2015, rumors have swirled that the winner of the Russian edition of “The Voice” will fly the Russian flag in Vienna. We watched with excitement as Alexandra Vorobyova grabbed victory on the show. Since then everybody in Russia and outside has been waiting for Russia’s Channel One to name Alexandra as this year’s Eurovision act.
In a recent post we reported that Alexandra had not yet received an invitation, and that she would love to take part in Eurovision. It’s now official that it will not happen this year.
In a recent interview with Russian newspaper Yuriy Aksyuta, the head of the depertment of music and entertainment of Russia’s Channel One said that Alexandra Vorobyeva will not be the Russian representative in Vienna. “We do not like to repeat ourselves, no matter how good those things are,” he said. By “repeat” he means selecting the winner of “The Voice”, as the network did with Dina Garipova in 2013. She went to Malmö with her song “What If” and placed fifth in the contest.
As for the artist, he said that he cannot name him (or her or them) now, but they do have some ideas in mind. Does it mean that we will have to wait until the very end to hear the Russian song? Probably. But maybe there is a big surprise waiting for us any moment!

They could try sending in Lena Katina except that she’s currently six months pregnant at the moment so unless she’s given birth before the Eurovision, then I think Russia could try their “lets pick a former JESC representative” trick again (where they’d probably pick the 2007 or 2008 representative).
Still to this day I hope for Russia to finally send Varvara!

I’d like one of the JESC singers like Lerika or Katya Ryabova. The Uzbek singer from Golos (can’t remember her name) would also be great. Alexandra would’ve just added to the female ballads we have this year so I think this is a good decision.
Whoever is picked best prepare for a lot of hate.
Right now the only way Russia will be able to start to redeem itself and not start a riot because of hate is if something like 2009 happens.

Lerika should sing for Russia. Her amazing voice and style could easily rock it in Vienna, with a song like “Sensation”, “Moy Okean”, or “Serdtse Znaet” 🙂

Sergey Lazarev or Yaroslav Dronov. They have everything,strong voice,charisma and ability to do an amazing performance. I still think Yaroslav should have won instead of Alexandra.
