Tonight’s Moldovan national final of O melodie pentru Europa showcased 16 songs – some great, some wanting – from 16 very different acts. Only one got the ticket to Vienna though, and that was Ukrainian Eduard Romanyuta with “I Want Your Love”. The 22-year old singer previously participated in his home country’s national selection Evrobachennya in 2012 and 2013. It is the first time that Moldova will be represented by an international artist at the Eurovision Song Contest.

Eduard Romanyuta took advantage of this year’s new rule that opened the doors to international artists to compete in Moldova’s national selection. He won the first semi-final and managed to beat Moldovan veterans like SunStroke Project or Doinita Gherman in the final, earning the victory with the dance track “I Want Your Love”.

Eduard Romanyuta was second in jury votes, behind Valeria Pasa.

Like in the first semi-final, he won the televote in a landslide again. 13,500 votes for a song is the highest number of televotes ever for a single song in a Moldovan national selection event.

The combined televote and jury votes seess Eduard Romanyuta winning with a six-point advantage over Valeria Pasa. SunStroke Project are third, while Miss M is fourth.

Eduard Romanyuta has been accused in the Moldovan press this week of copying Mariah Carey’s “I Want Your Love”. However, this did not impress the jury, who gave him a lot of top marks. There have been some allegations of televote rigging and vote buying and we are quite sure that this will not end here, at least as far as the Moldovan media is concerned.

Pasha Parfeny, who wrote the song “Maricica” for band DoReDos, which won the second semi-finalreacted on Facebook:

Pasha Parfeny reaction Eduard Romanyuta

RIP EUROVISION MOLDOVA. It doesn’t matter that he is Ukrainian, what matters is that he is corrupt.

Earlier, he wrote:

Pasha Parfeny reaction Eduard Romanyuta 2

It is so obvious that almost everything was bought. Too bad… I feel ashamed.

All the other 15 acts boycotted the aftershow when Eduard Romanyuta won. SunStroke Project stormed out of the Green Room in disgust. During the aftershow, the judges and members of the press discussed whether it was right to open the door to foreigners, and agreed that, after 10 national selection editions of sending Moldovan artists, it was time to try sending someone from abroad. The political aspect of having an Ukrainian singer represent Moldova was also hotly debated.

Nevertheless, until proven guilty, Eduard Romanyuta is the rightful winner of Moldova’s national selection O melodie pentru Europa 2015 with “I Want Your Love”. What do you think about the result tonight? How do you think that Eduard’s song will do in Vienna?

I hope this song gets withdrawn. I didnt follow Moldova’s selection that much, but I hoped this wouldnt come close to winning. It did. It won. ._. I was hoping for something catchy, like Inima fierbriente!

D’OH! My bad. That last sentence in the first paragraph should have read, ‘FORTUNATELY I chose well by avoiding this one.’

Oh, boy…I’m glad I can’t watch all these contests at once, when they’re televised almost at the same time in one day, otherwise I would have picked the wrong one. And unfortunately, I chose well by avoiding this one. If he sends this song to ESC, the way the music sounds now, the way his vocal performance was, he’ll be lucky if he gets a single POINT in his bracket! They’d better revamp the music from the top down and from the bottom up, and come up with a different vocal approach to the renovated version of this song, or… Read more »

This is such a good song for a dance off in a Paris Hilton movie ……. Which actually makes it such a lame attempt for 2015, since Paris is so 2003.

Well, hello Moldova! 🙂

IT’S NOT A BALLAD! YES!

But, it is:

– Liberty X – Just a little
– Mariah Carey – It’s like that

Anyhow, I like these two songs, so I may like the Moldova one. At least, IT’S NOT A BALLAD! 🙂

Anyhow, this if performed well (with a choreography) may place Moldova high just because IT’S NOT ANOTHER BALLAD!

i think it deserved to win, altough it is dated i think it wont have trouble qualifying and potentially making it on the left hand side of the scoreboard considering how many shitty ballads there are this year

I will say this.. if he gets his act together… this could be potential top10… it has a catchy tune actually.

But for now.. i dont see it making an impact.

After hearing Finland’s and Hungary’s awful chosen songs, this saved my nerves. I like the song itself but he definitely needs to cut his hair and completely new choreography. I would be more happy if Sunstroke Project won but Eduard was one of my favourites so it’s okay.

Ok, I actually like this one. The subpar audio quality obscures what’s otherwise a rather catchy song.

Endless evening in Moldova, so many shows in between…
Too bad the chosen song sounds like Claudia Beni’s (Croatia 2003) remixed with a lesser midtempo by Michael Jackson from the ’90s. And I don’t mean the Britney reminiscence, not even Jackson’s Ghosts feel, will help it a bit.
Gone seem the days Moldova sent riskier, different songs.

This is just an awful song, they just had to choose it, I thought they might. It’s not going to do well at all. Just so dated and so wrong. Another average song goes through. It looks better and better and better for ITALY and ESTONIA every day……………..some “big boys” still to come of course, I’m sure there is going to be a “WOW” or two………………………I hope so anyway. (PLEASE)

Maybe it was just Moldova mics but his voice wasn’t the best (I didnt watch the entire show but saw the conclusion with the televoting).

Is Ukraine broadcasting the event? (Yes I know they’re not participating, but they could still broadcast). If so, at least their people can still feel some small involvement with Romanyuta’s participation. Big plus for him mentioning Ukraine in the end of the show.

Well. That was crap but will probably qualify as it seems televoter friendly (not like I’d vote for it, maybe a hair cut would do too). I’d recommend Miss M to come back as she had the best song by far.
