Andra Chansen takes place next week on 7th March and SVT have just released the running order. Eight Melodifestivalen 2015 acts will compete for spots at the final of Melodifestivalen on 14th March in Stockholm. Unlike previous years however, Andra Chansen will produce four finalists and the duels will be sudden death.
Duel One: Andreas Weise v. Linus Svenning
Andra Chansen will open with a duel between returning act Linus Svenning and disco-pop crooner Andreas Weise. It seems SVT want to fight fire with fire. Pyrotechnics aside though, there is some serious male vocal talent on show here. Linus has emotional depth and Andreas has serious power behind him. This duel is too tough to call. Linus did make it out of Andra Chansen last year but ‘Bring Out The Fire’ is hella catchy. It also has disco glam and Linus has…trashcans.
VERDICT: Too close to call!
Duel 2: Hasse Andersson v. Kristin Amparo
Hasse might be charming but the song is anything but. Kristin’s song might be totes Adele but at least she makes it work and delivers something you can actually get on board with. Big voice, muted visuals and emotive delivery give ‘I See You’ a weight that the jaunty country twangs of ‘Guld och gröna skogar’ is never going to deliver to you. Hasse was a shock qualifier to Andra Chansen but it seems dubious he’ll be a shocker qualifier to the Melodifestivalen final.
VERDICT: I see Kristin Amparo going direkt till final.
Duel 3: Dolly Style v. Dinah Nah
It is a bad sign when the dance breakdown is the best part of your song. ‘Make Me (La La La)’ struggles to get ground clearance from dance banger territory. ‘Hello, Hi’ on the other hand is instantly memorable and the Dollies probably more than any other act at Andra Chansen this year, stand out for all the right reasons. Their song is catchy, the choreography is fun and Dolly Style turned it out at their Semi-Final overcoming serious competition in the process.
VERDICT: Hello, Hi to Dolly Style at the Melodifestivalen final!
Duel 4: Behrang Miri feat. Victor Crone v. Samir & Viktor
People were shocked when Behrang made it to Andra Chansen and the four weeks since Deltävling 1 haven’t changed any opinions on that score. ‘Det rår vi inte för’ is cringeworthy through and through. Victor also totally upstages Behrang with the killer guest vocal which is not ideal in a featured artist. Samir & Viktor on the other hand have a contemporary edge and swag about them. They might lack the choreographed polish of other acts, but they are endearing and ‘Groupie’ is inescapably fun.
VERDICT: Samir & Viktor dirket till final!
