Over the weekend Melodifestivalen voters said NO to Midnight Boy. Despite a flawless performance, which came with fabulous choreography and a lot of skin, not to mention a killer song that was a loving tribute to the electropop sound of the 80s, voters passed him over for ageing crooner Hasse Andersson and 40-going-on-20 singer Dinah Nah. But today is a new day, and Midnight Boy has released the video to his song — and we are in awe once again.

Yes it’s very retro — they dusted off a smoke machine — but the video is consistent with the sound. We are ready for an 80’s comeback after watching Midnight Boy strut his bear-cub body in a neon jacket, and we still struggle to understand how this catchy track didn’t advance to Andra Chansen, at the very least. Did you see what else was on offer on the night?
If you missed Midnight Boy’s live performance, feast your eyes and ears on this:
You’re welcome.
Nevertheless, one good thing happened on Saturday night: Midnight Boy got the attention of a global audience (his name briefly trended on Twitter worldwide). We certainly hope that “Don’t Say No” is not the last thing we hear from him. And please come back next year, Mr Krafman!
What do you think about Midnight Boy’s fiasco at MelFest? And what about his video? Sound off below!
this was just too much… like way too much of everything.
Dinah Nah also released her video for Make Me (La La La).
Loooooove the song but a treasure trail does not make him a bear cub. Ovidiu from Romania is infinitely cubbier.
You spin me round round baby right round!! I still like it!
I LOVE THIS <3
That video sure looks like it was made on the cheap.
I actually kind of liked his performance, with the mannequins and the vogue dancers.
While on the subject of music videos – Jon Henrik Fjällgren also released a video for “Jag är fri”. Love the clips of him boxing!
he couldn’t sing a single note right. Take 2:00 as an example. I just wanted to turn it off.
He should have taken the spot of JTR… Midnight Boy at least got an original proposal (Yes, it has obvious influences of Modern Talking but still original) JTR are just another boyband wannabe.
And btw i can’t understand how this song got a 7th spot in the Semi but still managed to chart in the Top 20 of the Swedish iTunes Charts o_o
You should watch his video for “When You’re Strange”. (He might possibly get naked).
its 1985 glamor .. love it .. amazing performance saturday night .. FIERCE !!!
