Who says that Greeks struggle with decisions? Last night the results at Eurosong 2015 were very clear. Four acts sang terribly (or just so-so) and one act amazed everyone with her voice. She was, of course, the winner Maria-Elena Kyriakou. Her lovely ballad “One Last Breath” stormed to victory winning both the jury vote and the televote, according to reports. A total of 33,672 people voted last night.

In my humble opinion, Eurosong 2015 was the best national final Greece has produced since 2013, when state TV started co-operating with MAD TV. The two fresh hosts, Mary Sinatsaki and Doretta Papadimitriou, did an amazing job, while the show shed light not only on the 60th anniversary of Eurovision, but also on Greek Eurofans. As for the result, I believe that “One Last Breath” can finish in the top 10 of the final. She’s got the look. She’s got the voice. She’s got a powerful song. OPA!

I know many people are tired of the usual Greek entries, but at least thier upbeat, traditional-influenced songs are fun! This ballad is a snoozefest, I honestly think is one of the weakeat ballads this year – and we all know they are many! I think this will most likely struggle to qualify…

A refreshing change from Greece’s typical song entries (dance with ethnic sound). We haven’t heard a ballad entry from them in while and this one sounds different. They might reach the Top 5 this time! Also great to see that the juries loved Thomai’s song. I thought it was refreshing but its too bad she sounded breathy live because of choreography. Only thing I liked about Sharaya’s song was presentation and her Beyonce looks ;P

What I know is that there are always haters of the Greek song in every eurovision…last year you were complaining because we send uptempo and dance songs every time, and this year youre complaining about our ballad too, because its not memorable!!! I also preferred and still prefer Shaya, but im annoyed from your silly arguments..So learn first what you really like and then come and judge…GREECE TO THE TOP 10????

Goodbye to Yesterday was always a poll winner for Estonia, so it’s not every time. But I agree, this year there is many those who are fan-favorites and don’t win in actual contest: Erika Selin, Shaya, Satin Circus, Markus Riva, ect.

As for Greece, it was a right choice. Maria Elena had the best song and the best performance. Fan-favorite Shaya was really bad vocally.

@ Anthony

You are right about Anna Vissi in 2006. I wanted to say that it might happen in 2015 because they were in the top 10 with a ballad in 2006. But I personally think Anna’s song was more memorable and more Greek so I doubt it that there will be a top 10 for Greece this year… But who knows

Shaya would have been the best choice for ESC.. she would have gotten her vocals in shape until then…

Maria did give a good show and was obviously the best choice after seeing all the performances, but I still think the song is very one-dimensional. For me, it doesn’t grab my attention until the key change. I think I’ll upgrade it to an 8/10 but I still don’t think it’ll make much of an impression in Vienna in a contest filled with females singing ballads (some of which are way better than Maria’s).

Im disappointed that Shaya did not win instead.. But *One Last Breath* is very good song and i can see why it won the Greek NF last night.. Shaya’s song was difficult to perform live on stage.. Maria Elena’ voice is exlcusively maiden 4 this kind slow ballads and she had won the Voice last year with a similar ballad.. Very let down the fact that totally only 33.600 (!!) votes were casted last night so i get the idea why Maria won instead as she had many Cypriots voting 4 her as she is Cypriot.. This phenomenon happens every… Read more »

I think the best Greece can hope with this entry is to repeat the Azerbaijan scenario of last year (saved by the juries in the semi but only just) and not the Cyprus scenario of 2013 (elimination). She is a very good singer but this is a very unremarkable entry in a tough semi. She is lucky there is no other female ballad in the first half of the semi. I couldn’t disagree more about the Mad show. It became a very long excuse for the two presenters to turn the whole spotilight on themselves. And I mean One and… Read more »

Greece DID reach the top 10 in 2006 Sander! Anna Vissi finished 9th in the Grand Final.

Interesting choice for Greece. I think it might do well, especially in the jury vote. I am not sure if the regular voter will support Greece as much as usual. This is not a typical Greek entry. In 2006 they didn’t even reach the top 10 with a great song.

The best national final Greece has produced for many years now…I preferred Shaya for the win…but Maria Elena has a very nice song and an amazing Voice!!
