In a slick event at PBS Creativity Hub, Amber has launched her official music video and the remastered version of Malta’s Eurovision 2015 song  ‘Warrior’. wiwibloggs was on-the-scene and we are floored. It’s fantastic.

LOGO AMBERThe video is mysterious but accessible, and it really does justice to the song. In it we see Amber playing string instruments with some others. This is a symobilic reference to the song’s new arrangement, which sounds like it was given a new backing track with live strings.

The location is a very old house in Rabat. Although the house is not habitable it contains precious murals which provided the perfect backdrop for the filming. The musicians have their faces covered, but we can see Amber, who emerges as a positive, optimistic protagonist. Other locations include The Verdala Palace, one of the Maltese President’s palaces, which is well known to Team Wiwi as it was one of the event venues for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2014.

In my opinion, the remastered version brought about the right changes to make the song a serious contender at Eurovision 2015.

“Warrior” remastered: Watch Amber’s official video

During the launch, Malta’s Justice, Culture and Local Government Minister Owen Bonnici said that it’s important to look deeply into the meaning of songs. With regards to Amber, we’ve all had to unleash our inner warrior, he said.

Amber thanked songwriter Elton Zarb  and Gordon Bonello. “Before I won eurovision I had no idea what goes into the production of a song and the video,” she said. Now she does! She promised that she will do her utmost to give a great performance and make malta proud.

This is f**ucking boring ballad. Malta ruined the orginal version. This is a funeral song and too formatic with too many runs :S

This is horrible. Quite tragic really when the song was doing so well before. Don’t fix what isn’t broken. The mystery and power of the song has been lost to crest this weirdly uptempo ballad, it’s weird since it feels like she’s trying to catch up to the song. This is like Albania last year that had a good ballad and switched it to a horrible English ballad.

Wow. It’s a whole different song, and it’s SO MUCH BETTER.

Her voice didn’t have the strength to carry the old version on its own, and besides the old version sounded like a cheaply inspired “Undo.” This instrumentation is way better overall, and much better suited for her voice. The song is all grown up now, thank God.

Malta’s really going for it this year. Good job songwriters and Amber 🙂

It seems, that most peolpe, who loved the first version don’t like the new one and the ones, that didn’t like the first one prefer this.

While I do enjoy the orchestra being added in giving the song the depth it lacked previously I feel it’s a bit messy now.
There’s too much now, too many instruments, too many runs, her voice is lost and they’ve lost the “fighter” element. She was going down my list anyway and I don’t see her getting back into my top 10 anymore.

This is so much better than the first version. I mean it is smoother but it’s better to have a song which sounds great in the live version not only in the studio version !!

Where’s the beat? Did they let someone other than Muxu produce the revamp?
The orchestral quality isn’t necessarily a good thing, but it hasn’t been in my top 10 for a while anyways

I like this song. I haven’t heard the original, so I can’t compare. The one thing that bothers me (“bother” is a strong word, but I can’t think of another one right now) is her voice… It’s beautiful, but I think it’s too delicate for such a poweful song… They should have used someone else; with a stronger voice, this might have done very well

Her voice is not powerful enough to bring the song out. Doesn’t made me believe that she’s really warrior.

Before, it was probably my least favourite,

Now…

No change, or maybe up one or two, It has taken away some good bits but also has added some good things to it. Never been a big fan of it and don’t get all the hype about it

That is a BRILLIANT revamp! The song is now in my top 5 (maybe even 1st place). The orchestral instrumentation brought out a quality in the song that I had never felt in the old version. It’s an uplifting, victorious song that could be the winner of ESC 2015!

I think the new version is slightly better, its added something that was missing in the first version. Amber is back in first place for me.

Seems like they controlled how loud she should do the chorus…dunno, the old version brought that POWER to the chorus lol, now it’s…good, but, hmm. Still one of my favorites!

I would have liked the dubstep beat used still, but this now seems so clean and smooth, which is how the song should be to compliment the lyrics. Glad they added more to the ending. Such a change!! My number 1 and it reminds me of a song I have once written so I will support this in Vienna alongside Estonia and Norway ( if they choose ‘A Monster Like Me’ ). Well done Malta!!

I like this, it’s definitely improved (but I preferred her vocals before). The only issue with the video is that the musicians don’t create as good an impact as Amber does. It loses it’s touch a bit.

Atleast we know something of what to expect in May performance-wise.

Loving the revamp and the video aswell, looks a hundred times more sofisticated than Edurne’s. The song is a lot more interesting now.

Yep….The best parts of both versions should get fit together into a 3rd final version 4 Vienna’s Diamond Vision…That would be the ideal scenario to happen…But i don’t think so that they will gonna do this sceptic unfortunately.. 🙁

I want to like this. I think it over corrected for improvement needs in the first version. I would love to have the best parts of both versions. The original version smacked you early and maintained it and therefore became a bit grating. This version is too feminine with too many runs (which I hate) but builds nicely (but not enough for this song) and therefore lost its fierceness.

My first impression – the old version was better. I am not convinced if these parts with violins (which I generally love) are suitable. However, the song itself is now more powerful and impressive. Furthermore, the ending of the song (last 40 seconds) has changed for better. So I am a little bit in a fix. Either way, it is a good song. When it comes to videoclip – horror! I was really frightened, watching this 🙂

This isn’t a bad revamp but I still prefer the old one…I don’t know but to me the instrumental part of the song just sounds like its about to end if that makes sense…like most songs build (same with the old version), but this one sounds like it reached its climax throughout the whole 3 minutes and its pretty unsettling

Ok i did not expect to hear such song….The first version was much much better unfortunately…With this one the whole song lost its real fire and power.. I don’t say that its not good song but its like im hearing two different songs now.. It was fierce but now its very mild.. Her vocals are nice and sound clear on this version though but i prefered 4 sure her vocals on the initial installed Warrior.. Guys we might expect to see & hear a fierce Warrior Amber but i suspect and have the idea that she will surprise us all… Read more »
