Over in Austria, the team at ORF have been busy drafting the running order for the semifinals, with the formal announcement due soon. Soon we’ll know who opens, who closes, and who faces the challenge of performing after the favourites.
Last week the Makemakes were given their randomly chosen placing for the grand final. Now it’s the turn for the semifinalists to have their running order decided, this time by the Eurovision team at ORF. Creative Producer Gregor Barcal (the man behind the very funny @ESC2015CP Twitter account) has shared a few tantalising details:

I would start with Finland, just to create twitterbomb and generate viewers and end with Serbia like a kind of over the top Cezar.
Sweden if possible i would put in first half of the final to see if a country can win from the first ten spots….
in order to give czech republic a good chance of finally qualfying i would put them at 8th after san marino. Lithuània to open semi 2 and followed y masterpiece Norway.

@Darren – last year Malta’s Firelight opened the 2nd semi. They were far from being favourited, but they went through. So that doesn’t mean anything. It might not nessecarily help you, but it isn’t dreaded or anything.
I’ve a strong feeling that Ireland will open the second semi final , which is a dreaded position, most songs that are first never usually qualify, unless they are favourites, like Armenia in 2014
First semifinal running order
First- Greece (it will warm up the stage)
Final-Georgia (there is just one high tempo song)
I think the running orders will be more important in this year’s contest than in previous years. Lots of quality songs and my opinion of which song is better than another changes depending on which song I hear last! If I hear Norway after Estonia, Norway is better. If I hear Estonia after Norway, Estonia is better.
I miss the days of the draw, to be honest. But at least Latvia can’t get screwed over with 1st-4th spot again this year.

I expect The Netherlands to open Semi1. It is a well suited entry to this years’ ESC. Really. My second choice is Moldova, for being a catchy-pop tune (disregard its weaknesses). The end – Russia or Belarus.

@teemo – first you need to take a look at the allocation draw, some of the countries you wrote down are in completely different halfs. Sweden can’t go 1st – it was allocated in the 2nd half. Same goes for Russia. Norway can’t go last, since it must perform in the 1st half.

I browsed to the comments below, with the one & only question – who do you like to perform second in whatever Semi.
While Malta & Portugal are changing their spots in Semi2, in Semi1 Macedonia is the only common among you (with 1 exception, I think). Funny.
Oh, the dreadful #2 spot. Even someone placed Sweden there. No way Sweden gets to perform at #2 or #1, it is destined to perform later because Sweden, you know.
It is very interesting! So many similar songs in terms of ambience. It is not easy to set an exciting running order. The new rule this year is absolutely justified. I don’t want to even imagine what would happen, if there was a draw:/ I love ballads and calm songs but too many ballads in a row even for me would be a much exaggeration.

I’d like Albania to close the show in SF1, or Russia. As for SF2, save the best for last with Maraaya I say! Or Israel, that would be a fun finale.
I’d love Netherlands or Belgium to open the show, that would be terrific and it might bolster their chances of qualification. Wouldn’t mind Armenia opening the show back-to-back years lmao.
As for SF2, I’d like to see the Czech Republic start the party in their return to Eurovision with a glam song <3
