Greek-Swedish Eurovision starlet Helena Paparizou has fans all over Europe, from Madeira to Udmurtia. But she now a VIP fan all the way on the other side of the Atlantic. How do we know? Because America’s country music legend Reba McEntire has covered Helena’s country ballad “Enough”!
This cover was released a little over a month ago and features fellow country artist Jennifer Nettles. It stays very true to Helena’s original version, although the duo adjusted the pitch to suit their own beautiful voices.
Helena released “Enough” last year alongside Jill Johnson (Eurovision 1998) as part of her eighth album, One Life. That album came several weeks after her appearance in Melodifestivalen 2014 and features singles like “Survivor” and “Don’t Hold Back On Love”.
Y’all, this isn’t just a cover by anybody. Jennifer Nettles is a core member of the duo Sugarland, and has also collaborated with Lionel Richie, John Legend, and Bon Jovi. And Reba McEntire is American country music royalty: She’s won seven Academy of Country Music Top Female Vocalist awards and twelve American Music Awards for Best Country Female Artist. She’s also won the Country Music Award for Female Vocalist of the Year four years in a row, has achieved solo number ones across four decades, and has sold 85 million records!
We are thrilled to see one of our favorite American artists building a bridge with one of our favorite European artists! Now we wonder who Reba will cover next…
Lol, I wonder how they heard of the song. Maybe we have some Eurovision fans in the US country music scene!
Love love LOVE Reba and Jennifer! This is great!
I had no idea this was Helena’s song. Makes me love it even more.
