The Euro Fan Cafe programme now been released and organisers have outdone themselves with a stellar line-up. The Cafe will feature performances from Eurovision winners, legends and fan favourites, including Niamh Kavanagh, Hera Björk and Anne-Marie David. And that’s just the start.

EMA Lounge - the home of Euro Fan Cafe Vienna
EMS Lounge – the home of Euro Fan Cafe Vienna

Previous winners Jacqueline Boyer and Getty Kaspers will also join the line-up, along with other legendary competitors – Jan Johansen, Darja Svajger, Thomas Forstner, Lou and Katerina Hasprova. They’ll be joined by Austrian Eurovision stars Nadine Beiler, Tony Wegas, Anita, Bettina Soriat, Robinson, Gary Lux and Stella Jones.

The Cafe events are based around themed nights. These include the 20th anniversary celebrations for OGAE Austria and the OGAE International party. And, of course, for those not lucky enough to have tickets to Eurovision itself, the Cafe will screen both semi-finals and the final.

Old and new traditions

Debuting in Vienna is the cover song contest A Song for Vienna, which is hoped will start a new tradition for future Euro Fan Cafes. Each OGAE club is invited to nominate a member to represent their country in the competition, with the winner decided by the Cafe audience.

And of course there are the usual performances and interviews with this year’s Eurovision stars, who’ll be stopping by as their busy schedules permit. The first to be announced is Eduard Romanyuta, who will bring his pop styles to the Cafe on the Monday.

The Euro Fan Cafe is located at EMS Lounge, 1030 Wien, Dietrichgasse 2. A weekly pass to the Euro Fan Cafe will cost €39, or €29 for OGAE members. A nightly pass will cost €13. For more information, see the official website.

It’s all so exciting, finally having the ESC in my hometown. I have watched the Grand Prix / Song Contest since my childhood, beginning from 1980, but never could imagine that my most important event of the year once would be held in Vienna! Griaß eich olle aus Wean!
