The Ministry of Tourism in Greece has just found another reason to party. One of the Bs from ABBA, one of the world’s best-selling groups of all time, is planning to open a tavern in Stockholm serving Greek goodies. It’ll shine the spotlight on Greek culture in Sweden — and hopefully encourage a few Swedes to head East for the real deal.

Eurovision winner Bjorn Ulvaeus has announced plans to open a restaurant based on Mamma Mia!, the blockbuster musical which spawned the blockbuster film. In the movie edition, Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried and Pierce Brosnan showed us some beautiful sights from the island of Skopelos in Greece. There, they enjoyed eating at a tavern on the seafront, which remains exactly the same today. (Trust me, I’ve been there). Bjorn will open a simillar tavern in the heart of the Swedish capital.

The project will be called “Nicos’ Taverna”, and it will include dancing and singing waiters, actors and musicians. Eating there will give you the chance to be part of a story line slightly different from the musical, which will change from day to day. The tavern will open in January near the Abba Museum. This means that you can spend a whole day with Abba. You can see their costumes and photos at the museum, and eat Greek food accompanied by the sound of popular songs, like “The Winner Takes It All”, “Dancing Queen” and “Waterloo”.

We love it! Will you eat there the next time you’re in Stockholm?

Even if Australia wins in Vienna hopefully Mans finishing runner up will give the right 4 SWEDEN to host the 61st Vision ! <3 🙂 But even if this scenario doesn't happen & another country finishes 2nd instead of Mans {yeah i really believe that Australia is gonna win indeed the EuroVision unfortunately} EBU should still give the 61st Vision to Sweden! <3 With Bjorn opening his Gay Visionary Abba's Tavern in January of 2015 it would be the perfect way to promote his business with Sweden being the host country of the Vision the very same year! <3 Stockholm… Read more »
