Måns Zelmerlöw has dropped a bombshell and made a lot of fans very happy by admitting that he would date a guy – if he got the right feeling. Answering a reader’s question in Swedish newspaper Metro‘s webchat Fråga Mig (Ask Me), Måns explained that gender didn’t matter – if he felt an attraction to a guy, he would date that guy.
The Fråga Mig series sees Måns answering questions from Metro‘s readers, and Metro had a quick Q&A with Måns before the video chat. In that, he said he was happy with his Swedish nickname Mums-Mums (Yum-Yum), even though he’d rather have something slightly cooler.
Måns also confessed that he’s not entirely happy with the shape of his bottom and would like to have a firmer behind. But he’s hitting the gym ahead of Eurovision, so there’s a chance to shape up that part of his anatomy.
In the video series, Måns shows off his rapping skills, and talks about weird encounters with fans. But it’s the revelation that he’d date a guy that has Swedish media buzzing.
Måns was also asked by a reader if he was currently in love with anyone. He said he wasn’t, but intriguingly added that he was close. We wonder if there is a lucky girl or boy in Måns’ life… or maybe he’s just talking about the love he has for his dog, Messi.

I think this sounds cheap. Of course he would date a guy if he had feelings for one. But he has not. Earlier on Swedish television, he said “homosexuality is a deviation”. He would not have said that if he was interested in someone of the same gender.

Making such a annoucement two weeks before the final seems just calculated. Even if it is true. What is wrong with Sweden? Erica Saade says only Australia can beat Mans, now this. The two very unfortunate moves. A few weeks ago I defended Mans here against too much criticism, but now I feel that some people maybe were right. Pity, since the song itself is good.
Very convenient thing to say a week before the Eurovision…especially after the apparent homophobic remark he made earlier in the year…very convenient indeed.
