William: Måns Zelmerlöw was as sleek and steady as ever, and today the producers at ORF managed to keep up. His LED backdrop functioned perfectly and 3-D effects such as falling rain and his face exploding into pixels looked so real. This is technically perfect and Måns gave it a bit of attitude to boot. He really works his camera angles. He spins, pouts, smiles and flirts — and we are more than happy to watch.

Chris: Måns faced delays during his first rehearsal bceause of technical trouble, but today’s performance of “Heroes” was smooth sailing. Måns delivered his vocals flawlessly yet again, and the performance generally remained the same. The backing singers in the arena sound particularly strong when called upon. At this stage, we can only expect Måns to deliver as we know he can.

Watching the official rehearsal video at YouTube, I notice it is quite different from Melodifestivalen.

The stage looks much bigger and emptier, the backing vocals don’t fit in as seamlessly as they do in the recording (especially in the last chorus) and the red lights blinking in the second and third chorus are much more conspicuous and in your face, giving the whole thing a disco vibe which might be appropriate with “Golden boy” but is not really here.

@ Eugene To prove my point about the editing, check out Albania’s second rehearsal around the 1:48 mark and forward where shootage from at least 2 run-throughs are used back and forth. It’s clearly seen at 2:00. https://youtu.be/hDfAUPvkELQ?t=1m47s (One which she had problems with the in-ear and holds in it her hand before putting it back in later and one where there’s no problem at all). Of course everyone should sing all their parts of their song at the rehearsal (In my opinion at least). But since you wanted examples, I’ll let you know that Polina skipped one of her lines… Read more »

I wonder what the h*** is going on in Vienna! There is such a strange atmosphere going around the swedish entry and Måns Zelmerlöw. Many want a piece of him but at the same fans do everything to trash him and the swedish entry. A swedish blogger on The Nordic Party described how fans and media couldn’t leave Måns alone. And even though they got their pictures taken they came back later trying to get more pictures. They were denied and got their chance to talk shit about him. Måns sneeked out the back door after some time. The swedish… Read more »

This song is modern, he is a great singer, but… The only thing I see here is just a high-technology performance. This song without this kind of performance is just an average song.

Or is about me, I just don’t “feel” this song at all. This is not even close to my top 10 or so. But yea, that’s just my opinion.

This can fight for victory, but I don’t want to see this as a winning song.

I will ONLY agree with their possibly victory if the host the contest on friends arena. I dont want to see again a small stage in some small swedish town. Its eurovision and you have a bigger audience than superbawl. You cannot do it like a local show.

Sweden’s in it to win it, obvy. I can’t wait to see what Italy and Australia have in store for us. I think tomorrow we will know who is going to win this thing.

Bring it onnnnnnn.

@ Eugene Oh please. You do realize that the clips uploaded on Eurovision’s official page is a summary of all run-throughs made during the rehearsal right? Meaning that the audio is from one run-through and the different camera angles are from all of them edited together. That’s why the singing is not synced with the movements. It’s the same for every country and is occurring in every clip they have uploaded to their page from the 2nd rehearsals. I’m getting tired of all the hate and false accusations aimed at Sweden at this point. Y’all need to chill and stay… Read more »

Eugene ESC UK:.- Again & again ….. As so many times during the last days I do agree by 1 : 1 with Eugene’s analysis. Another BREAKING NEWS are: Actually, both countries – ITALY & AUSTRALIA – are working right now at this hour internally on a special computerized program only at their own computers to optimize lightening systems starting for tomorrow’s rehearsals. So that means, believe me or not, both of them are taking it very seriousley. My prediction for the TOP 3 is based on my personal feeling and as a big ESC fan over 40 years. ITALY… Read more »

I hate that it is so good! Just so polished, well-worked and performed flawlessly. I do not think it is the best “song” and the more you listen to it and others, you realise this but for people hearing and especially SEEing it for the first time, I just do not see how they vote for anything else during the contest.

As much as I’ve always liked the song and performance, it does get to a point where the performance is just too perfect and I wonder if the lack of spontaneity down to every single arm movement etc. will give a sterile performance on screen
