The UK will have a new points announcer this year, with celebrity chef Nigella Lawson stepping into the role Scott Mills has filled for the past three years.
After rumours swirled around social media, Nigella confirmed her new gig via a tweet, also demonstrating her familiarity with the three European languages we’ll be hearing a lot of this week.
Yes, it’s true. Oui, c’est vrai. Ja, das ist wahr. https://t.co/X6dVnik2JG

And the BBC have also confirmed that Nigella will be dishing up the points.

Last year, Nigella was known for her support of Conchita, and tweeted a picture of herself with a hastily scribbled beard after fans pointed out the resemblance between the British cook and the Austrian diva. Nigella also presented Conchita with UK gay magazine Attitude‘s Moment of the Year award in October.

Meanwhile, former UK points announcer Scott Mills has been busy on the ground in Vienna in his role as the BBC’s semi-finals commentator. He’s co-presented the semi-finals commentary since 2011, and this year he’ll be joined by new commentator Mel Giedroyc. Scott attended the red carpet last night and shared this pic of Bojana.

What do you think of Nigella Lawson as the UK’s new points reader? Who do you think the UK will award their douze points to? Leave your comments below!
The 8 point goes to… *moans*
10 points most certainly goes to *seductively grabs herself*
And finally! *moans louder* the 12 points! *starts stripping* goes to!
That’s Nigella in a nutshell. I can’t wait!
why does she looks like Marina Diamandis (From Marina and the Diamonds) on that head picture! Disturbingly accurate
I won’t miss Scott. UK needs to ask celebrities to announce the UK vote. Nigella is a good start! Yay!
I wish Australia had chosen a big name to do the job.
Well she’s okay.. it’s just a bit of a random choice?
You’re….you’re kidding me right??
Nigella is pleasant bye bye old-fashioned Scottie 🙂
Ooooh, I loved Scott Mills! 🙁
I love it. She is great, and I have so much respect for her. Her voice is so sultry. I think she can speak French as well. If the UK win again she should present. Her voice will turn the whole of Europe on. We could have our first cooking interval act.
Nooo!! NO SCOT MILLS 🙁
Classy! Definitely a step in the right direction from the BBC 🙂
12 from the UK will go to Australia, no doubt about it.
I’m also looking forward to Mel’s commentary for the semis, and Graham Norton in the final. Have I missed anyone ?
Isn’t she the woman who acts as a judge in the Iron chef? Whoever she may be though, I’ll miss Scott.
And looking forward to Scott and Mel’s commentary for the semis, love Mel
This made me laugh, in a good way! She’s going to make me hungry when she comes on!
Well other than the people in UK,Ireland & Australia not many people must know her i guess….I do not….But i like her name & surname…It looks classy & elegant.. <3 🙂
