During the final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2015, Italy’s Il Volo delivered a fabulous bel canto. Belgium’s Loïc Nottet taught us how to “ra-pap-pap”. And Russia’s Polina Gagarina sang about world peace as white lights exploded. But in the end the night belonged to Sweden’s Måns Zelmerlöw and his winning song “Heroes”. It featured state-of-the-art digital projection and Måns worked every inch of the stage wearing rather flattering leather pants.

It’s not been an easy road. Zelmerlöw has been in more fights pre-Contest than anyone else in Eurovision this year. He’s been attacked for being a runaway favourite with the bookies, accused of musical plagiarism and slammed for his screens but kept on walking. That makes Måns and “Heroes” all the more heroic. Vocally superb, beyond catchy and a standout from the field, he’s brought Sweden’s a well-deserved sixth win.

You can see the complete results below. What do you think? Did the best song win? You can learn more about Man’s journey to Eurovision here.

After Azerbaijan and Austria, this year Sweden, is one of the worst winner ever for me. Austria organization was awful, I didnt like the show at all, one of the worst show ever, i expected so much more, Albania wasnt that good live, but 17th? Really ? That was shame for Europe. Hope Albania will stop taking part in Eurovision, coz it really sucks.

Sorry I’m late here, but I was too tired Saturday night, after surfing the Web for all the news on the aftermath of this contest. Here in New York City, after watching the Grand Final LIVE for the 3rd-straight year, once again I was thoroughly entertained; more so because my country has now seen the light, and decided to put to rest the once-legendary–now the butt-of-jokes–talent show that is ‘American Idol’ (soon enough to be followed to the landfill by its spinoffs here), and even more so this time around because I have kept an even sharper ear on the… Read more »

Basically I see people decide whether the jury system is good or bad depending on their personal favourite.

For me is as simple as that: 200 people (no matter how ‘professional’ they are) should NOT influence the opinions expressed by tens (or maybe hundreds) of thousands people who pay to vote for their favourite! After all, this show is for the watching public, isn’t it?

I voted for Latvia in the final, and I’m very happy with her placing, including the 8th place in televoting.

Italys song was dated and quite frankly boring.. i dont understand how it could win the televoting…no less place in the top3… that song will not be played on any radio station beyond italy…. russias message was fake, and polina was a wreck during and after her performance… russia needs to start to stop sending these peace message songs to be taken more seriously. Sweden had all the right components. great singer, modern and contemporary song, best stage act of the year. its only fair that sweden won… and I thank god the juries saved Måns.. and saved europe from… Read more »

My opinion on the final score board last night: Sweden – 365 Points Well deserved winner. A handsome guy sinining a catchy, modern song with an outstanding stage show. This song was in my personal top 10. Russia – 303 Points Well deserved runner up. A pretty girl sining a classic Eurovision ballad with an eye catching stage show. This song was in my personal top 10. Italy – 292 Points Absolutely deserved a top 3 finish. Personally I would have liked to see these boys win or place second as there song was a powerful classic that blew the… Read more »

I can’t understand the position of Spain… Edurne did a great performance! Spain is always underrated and I can’t stand this anymore. I won’t watch eurovision the same way anymore.

Congratulation he deserved the victory, so did Russia, but Russia was unlucky as this year the competition was stronger than last year 3 countries Sweden Russia and Italy all scored above 190 points more than last year winner, so all 3 countries were winner if we compare to last year winner but only one could take the victory with more points the theother two. I don’t think that conchita who was sitting next to russian contestant and said you deserve to be in the lead while the countries were still voting, it seemed Conchita didn’t want Sweden to win because… Read more »

@Eugene A group of what 20 people are clearly not going to turn out the same results as the whole of Europe. And they never claim to be trying to predict the final. A key thing too is that they review the songs before rehearsals. For example Serbia came alive and worked so well on the stage in Vienna compared to previous performances or audio track.

@ Månsatar
Maybe your suggestion is right. On the other hand Germany won in 2010, when there were also two semi-finals. And Italy came third this year.

I think all Big 5 countries should have got more points. They are penalized for not getting more visibility during semifinals. My suggestion is that Big 5 countries get to present their songs live during semifinals either in the beginning of the show or in the end when the votes are being counted.

Congratulations to Sweden! You were fab!

Has anything come out of the jury performance for both Italy and Spain? I cannot believe the difference between televoting and jury results for Italy and I kinda get Edurne might have been too slick for the audience but the jurors??? Must have watched with their eyes closed and fingers in their ears. Looking at that televoting result, I think Italy should have won. The vocal was flawless and I thought the juries would score it high and the public just not get it. How wrong was I and how wrong were they!!?

I can understand why Italy withdraw the eurovision contest many years ago. Italy has been robbed.
Sending this quality has been robbed again.
Big 5 should withdraw this plastic joke show and let the others to pay for it. I could see esc passing over. It would be deserving.

Juries gave the victory to Sweden and people gave it to Italy.
Are the any economic interests behind? Bets…
IT was something systematic in every country. I’m suspicious.
ITALY IS MY WINNER. But being a southern country and belonging to the big 5 countries was betrayed by juries

Mans, I wouldn’t be so happy if I were in your shoes because you came 3rd. Televoting is what matters most. It is a shame that million votes were in fact cancelled since the winner was not the one who the voters decided. It is a pitty.
And that should not happened again. Juries shouldn’t exist.

Did Italy really win televoting because they had the best song? You would be naive to think that.

Russia suffered from politics, just look at Lithuania and rest of the Baltic and Scandinavian voting.
Sweden suffered from running order and the fact that they won so recently.

The jury group is just there to even it out and I’m personally glad that Italy didn’t win.

PEOPLE ARENT UNDERSTANDING THE SITUATION. FOR PEOPLE WHO DONT LIKE IL VOLO WAT IF IN 2012 EUPHORIA WON IB TELIVOTES BY 365 POINTS IN THE FINAL ONLY GETTING 192 AND RUSSIA BEAT THEM IN THE CONTEST WITH 365 BUT HAD A TELIVOTE OF 271 AND CAME THIRD. WOULD YOU SAY THAT IS FAR. JUST BECAUSE U DONT LIKE THE SONG DOESN’T MEAN ITS FAR THE MARGIN IN THE TELIVOTES WERE HUGE. IT WASN’T EVEN A LIKE IT BAW BY 10 OR 20 POINTS! THATS THE HIGHEST IN TELIVOTING EVER I THINK BUT THEY END UP COMING 3RD. WHAT’S THE POINT… Read more »

This is a joke, right? Sweden 3rd in televoting(279) while Italy won by a landslide(366)! Since the result was determined by the juries whats the point of televoting and wasting so much money? It’s like dont giving a sh@t about millions of votes. It’s not fair for the result to be determined by a few people (juries) and not by the audience. The millions of viewers are those who made and make eurovision popular. They have to respect that and stop the jury system, for Gods sake. Im from Greece and I really dont care about my country’s position because our song… Read more »

Additional:
Most especially, the juries are just meeting the criteria in the contest too.

I just don’t agree that it can be dismissed that the juries’s actions are 100 percent accurate in giving points to certain countries. There are flaws in their side too. But it is understandable that they are trying to help in their professional ways.

The jury system needs to be changed! GET RID OF THE RANKING SYSTEM! It gives FAR TOO MUCH power to individual jurors to seriously overrate or underrate any song and, by extension, severely bring them up or down in the overall jury ranking and even in the combined jury-televote ranking. CHANGE IT, EBU

The split jury/televote results have not been anounced yet, esc1234. No matter what the split results are, Sweden is the overall winner so they obviously deserved it.

I cannot say much about the juries any longer because some here has a valid point: it’s all about the rules after all. The organizers and contestants are just meeting the criteria in determining who the winner will be. But some of the juries’ actions cannot just get away with the strategies and some gimmicks that others might find as scandalous because not only they have an utmost advantage in the contest, but ALSO have disadvantages too. I still want to congratulate Mans and Sweden for their victory this year. I cannot bear it at first but I am getting… Read more »

I know what hapenned in the Dutch media because Albania qualified and The Netherlands didn’t. What I’m trying to say is that I think that the jury members influenced about what the media said and didn’t judge objectively, which they shouldn’t . They are supposed to be profesionals, not gossipers.
To sum up, they were prejudiced.

Also, the official jury/televote splits have not been released by EBU. Anything that’s been figured out so far can only be guesswork, so stop acting like country X did well because of jury or country Y did well because of televote… nobody knows for sure at this point!!!

The real winner is Italy, it’s clear in the televoting. But the juries decided to give Sweden the victory. Pathetic. I’m never voting in Eurovision again, because it doesn’t matter — the juries decide. Mediocre vocals, song that sounds like Guetta, a gimmick “performance”….. Also funny, people hate on Russia and Polina gets booed, yet homophobic Måns is congratulated and cheered. Talk about double standards, huh. Polina the artist never made any homophobic comments but just because she is representing her country it means it’s cool to hate on her. Wow. And then Europe makes a big talk about respect… Read more »

Hahahaha actually, Albania got completely herassed on a Dutch talkshow about her passing in the semi.

I liked her song but if she sang like that on the jury-night, I think that that can be the reason for the poort placing.

My country respects all other countries and I actually know a lot of people who did like the song (studio-version).

Lithuania was among my favourites, but judging by the studio-version Albania was better. Judging live I think it was a close vallen 🙂

Well, the voting is kinda unfair since every country gives the same points regardless of the actual number of votes. I would like to know how the results were if there weren’t the same points for each country. I think that many countries would get fewer points than what they have this year.

Sweden won fair and square. So many jealous people here. They got 365 (!!!) points, how can anyone call that a undeserved winner?

And, both Conchita and Måns proved that you can win even though you’re performing in the first half. The running order doesn’t really matter as long as you have a great song.

George

@ Deniz

Well, do you judge her Semi final performance or the one in the Grand Final when she sung fine. Except if only Dutches don’t like her performance. I don’t know what to say. Maybe her Albanian-Englidh pronounciation annoys you.Did Lithouania for, exaple deserved a better place?

Why should southern europe even try anymore..! Even if they sent the best songs with remarkable performances they just can’t be the winners. Italy won the most televotes despite a really shitty draw and Italy being a big 5 country but jury just messed up with everything and it shows how corrupt that jury idea is.It is said that some jurors placed italy to 26th just to neutralise the televotes. I am not saying jury should be perished but their importance should be decreased sharply. Maybe like 65% televote 35% jury. It is kind of odd that normal people voted… Read more »

Daniella: people you said it yourself. People are voting for the countries they want to win. Not the song. Already before the contest it is clear that many people don’ t want Sweden to win because jealousy. We won 2012 and know many people wanted a winner that haven’t won in many years, no matter of the quality of the entry itself. That’s why juries are needed. They wote for the best song and performance. BTW, it’s disrespectful to say the rules should change because your fave didn’t win. Why this a such problem now? Why didn’t you complain in… Read more »

Until this year I was sure that televoting results were much more fair than jury results. But this year I want to thank juries who saved the whole competition.
And about the winner- yes, I think the right country won. It is modern song which will do well on charts and Italy’s song was really old-fashioned (but still very good song with amazing performance).
And another reason why I am happy for Sweden is that next year we will have amazing show!!!!

I don’t know where all the love for Spain is coming from… to be honest, I wasn’t surprised by Edurne’s low placing. She consistently missed the highest note in the song (which she could barely hit on the studio version too). That’s not really something you can do if you’re Spain, especially given how good the competition was.

@CookyMonsta: I think Sweden for instance may have still won if they went in the first 5 entries. However, I can’t help but feel that Lisa would have done much better had she had a reasonable draw.

Italy won JESC with jury votes, and they lost ESC with jury votes. KARMA?
What goes around, really comes around.

However, I read in Oikotimes.com that some jurors suspiciously put Italy as 26th. Can anyone (who has more time than I do) tell us who those jurors were?

Måns yaaaay! I loved his song and his staging and everything :D. I’m very happy with him as the winner as he was one of my favourites (Although I had about ten this year, lol. Russia and Italy were not among them though). When judging by song alone, Latvia would’ve deserved to win, but Måns just had the complete package. Song, performance, looks, and vocals were on point. He’s a deserved winner and I can’t wait for Stockholm (or Göteborg or even Kiruna, what do I care) 2016!
