I totally understand why the EBU holds Eurovision in May. It doesn’t clash with Christmas, the artists aren’t fainting on stage due to heat exhaustion and there won’t be six feett of snow when we’re in Sweden next year. But for many of us, the problem with Eurovision taking place in May is that it’s right in the middle of exam season. Students — from secondary school right up to university — find ourselves trying to balance revision and dissertations with following the Euro-drama. Worst of all the scheduling kills any and all chances of attending the show. But fear not! We’ve compiled a list of feelings we’ve all experienced during these dreaded weeks so you know you’re not alone.
Checking your timetable and realising there isn’t an exam the day after Semi Final 1…
Checking your timetable again and realising there is an exam the day after Semi Final 2…
Seeing your history revision guide on the table as the Grand Final begins…
Turning to the end of the chemistry paper and finding that there isn’t a dreaded titration equation…
The back page of every exam paper looks like this…
Being asked a chemistry question about the structure of an atom… Even though it’s a physics exam.
Listening to friends who suggest it’d be better to forget about Eurovision during exam weeks…
Being asked whether you’ve done any revision for the French exam apart from listening to Twin Twin…
Accepting half way through the exam that nothing you’ve revised for biology will be appearing on the paper…
Seeing that the entire nation found the #EdexcelMaths exam impossible. It wasn’t just you…
Walking out of the exam hall after taking the final paper, you say goodbye to the invigilators in the most fabulous way possible…
To all who still have exams to take this year: good luck from everyone at wiwibloggs! May the grade boundaries be ever in your favour.
The Indonesian elementary school national finals (state-level end of primary school exam, not THAT national final) this year were held during Eurovision week. Too bad for them…
Well I was lucky this year as the first two weeks of my exams i wrote only 4 subjects so I had al lot of time about Eurovision. The Eurovision week was the week that I started my exams but luckily i didn’t have lessons the days after the semifinals :)….Hope the dates for next year to be 10,12,14 because i wont have started my exams!!!
Ha! Jokes on yall! My exams ended on Semi Final 2! Got to watch that liiiiiiveeee!
Lol the Eurovision final this year was the night of the final exam of my Spanish degree…suffice it to say we celebrated quite a lot that night! (Although it would have been nice to see Edurne climb a bit higher on the leaderboard…)
Hahahaha this was me this year with no exam after semi 1 and a examen after semi 2!
I may be the odd one but I a way I like have exams around eurovision because It helps me disconnect for a bit during study breaks. I had 2 exams; the day after the first semi and the day of the 2nd semi and another one June 1st so it was the perfect balance as esc kept me motivated for the first 2 exams and I had something to look forward to after them
omg, this was so me this year.
Loic, what a handsome guy !
I had exams the day after semi 1 and semi 2.
And please, the edexcel question everyone found hard was easy (sweets), try doing edexcel further maths then come talking to me.
Kinda epic seeing this post having just come home from my last exam – that Verka gif sums it up just right!
And that Loic gif is so perfect <3
The biology part was really me this year, I did studied but almost nothing which I studied came out.
About History, I study it with the help of Eurovision, like singing the songs that describes the situation, so that it will be easier to memorize. So, you could actually combine Eurovision with school studies.
Thanks for reminding us how terrible Valentina’s 2012 entry was.
Exams….. ????
I had an exam the day after semi final 1. I was lucky last year that Eurovision was so early, otherwise it would have been in the middle of my exams. And then lucky this year that my exams are late (but my last exam is on the 24th!!).
This was so me especially Elnur and Loic (except I do Spanish not French)
This was essentially me this year with A Levels
I had one today and will have four more until 17th June.
Edexcel is truly the Bane of students’ existence. Not only GCSE but A Level as well :'(
This was me this year oh my god….. The Margaret Berger one especially (not for maths but for how easy the french gcse was).
I had my exams this year too, really sucks. But yeah, my exams sucked too. Everything went horribly, except English and German.
But I like titration questions 🙁
Haha.. What a cool article.
hehehe 😉
looool about that guy of Il Volo….Years ago he was a chubby boy…hehe… 😛
with no offense of course to him..
the italiano babe marco is like Ainstein 😛 hehe..
the expression of Mans is really LMAO 😀
Alex’s is really funny 😛 hehe..
Loic ‘s is hilarious 😀 oh what a babe <3 🙂
Margaret Bergen's is LMAO 😀
And of course Verka Serduchka that he is on a special league on his own.. 😉 hehe..
I have to take options this year. I can’t even decide what to have for dinner.
Love it! 🙂
Loved this! XD
Spoke to me in many ways.
this will be me over 2 years xd i’m already looking down on the maths exam…
