Junior Eurovision may be for the kids, but Armenia does not play around. They’re one of the most successful countries at Junior Eurovision, having won in 2010 and placed second in 2007 and 2009, and third in 2012 and 2014. This year they plan to keep a good thing going, but will bypass a national selection in favor of an internal selection. Perhaps they are still paying off all those bills from Eurovision: bringing together six artists from AustraliaJapan and beyond isn’t cheap!

Armenia at Junior Eurovision 2014

If you count Armenia out at JESC, you do so at your own peril. Last year’s contestant Betty — aka Elizabeth Danielyan — had some supporters ahead of the contest, but she wasn’t seen as a major threat for the Junior Eurovision 2014 title.

Yet the eleven-year-old from the land of Noah went on to prove everyone wrong — big time. She made an artistic and fun music video, worked the interview circuit in Malta, and whipped her vocals into shape. And, perhaps best of all, she unveiled EPIC staging replete with acrobats and scooters. Finishing in third place, with only one point separating her and second place, was more than deserved. In fact, she placed second with the jury and second with televoters, actually finishing two spots ahead of eventual winner Vincenzo from Italy with the public. Betty werked it.

@ArrArmenia – A lot of countries opt for internal selection because it’s a cheap alternative. Given that Armenia probably spent a lot of money this year on it’s adult Eurovision budget, an internal selection will definitely save them money. So, no this article doesn’t prove anything.

Freedom of speech is highly opressed in Armenia. This article is a proof.

Betty was SO AMAZING <3333333 She got 6 and above from every country except Montenegro and Italy, which was rather annoying. I wish Bulgaria or Armenia had won, just because I hated the Italian entry tbh.

I hope that we can come up with something just as good this year. 5 finishes in the Top 3 in 8 contests but just one of those was a win, so I'd love to have win #2 soon! 😛

Well i remember that Armenia was 2nd during the voting and at the end Bulgaria was the one that finished 2nd instead with this girl Betty finishing unfortunately 3rd.. I wonder how she must felt for that…I guess that it was bitter 4 her…Poor girl.. And especially with the fact that she was close to win the televoting & finished just 2 points behind the eventual big winner of Italia Vincenzo.. Armenia was the host of the Junior Vision back in 2011 that coicidentally the hateful by them land of Fire Azerbaijan was the winner that year…And more coincidentally that… Read more »
