Even though Eurovision 2015 belongs to the past, there is still news oozing out of this sunny land of mythology and tourists. Tamta, a popular Greek singer of Georgian origin, has revealed that her record label Minos-EMI Universal wanted her to compete in Greece’s Eurosong 2015 instead of eventual winner Maria-Elena Kyriakou.
Tamta previously tried to represent Greece in the contest in 2007 with the ballad “With Love”. Her blooming hair and shirtless sidekicks were not enough to secure victory.
But she returned this year and she did everything to ensure victory in the national final. Everything but submit her song “Unloved” on time! Apparently she was too busy listening to compositions and couldn’t make up her mind. The song, which you can hear below, starts off very electro-lounge before showing flashes of house and dance. Produced by Alex P. and Rami Yacoub — who has worked with Jenifer lopez, Britney Spears, Madonna, One Direction and more — it’s a modern foil to Maria-Elena’s “One Last Breath”.
When Tamta missed the deadline, her label had no choice but to go with its backup representative MEK. Tamta kept her song anyway, and now plans to release it in Cyprus, Israel, Turkey and Albania, among other places.

yes it would have done much better, there were many ballads this year. Tamta is a talented performer although i am not sure about the live performance.

I don’t understand Greece and Eurovision. They always qualify for the final, but then their final score is very unpredictable. The quality of their songs ranges from average to somewhat better than average, they’re position in the final has been all over the place.
Although its an interesting beat I do not thing it would have done too much better, maybe 15th cause Georgia would at least give some votes to Tamta regardless of song. I know many readers here will disagree with me but no matter what song we sent the jury was never going to vote high for us. We send dance songs and the jury always marks us down. Anyway, she just lip-synced it at The Voice of Greece. She would have the same luck with Sayha, as none of them can sing.
It’d be easy for Greece to send an entry that I liked more than this year, but Tamta goes the extra mile by being fabulous. She would’ve been top 5 without a doubt.
I was so excited when I heard the rumour that Tamta would be in the greek national final this year, now that I hear the song she would’ve competed with, I can’t help to think the story would’ve been quite different, if only…
Anyway, I actually loved MEK and I loved One Last Breath, so I don’t complain, I’m also liking Unloved just as much, but they’re completely different, is difficult to imagine which would’ve done better.
I’m just hoping to see Tamta representing Greece in a future year.
With the right staging this is top 5 for sure. Its a pity that she didn’t kept the song for next year…
Just wanted to add, I really hope it doesn’t turn into a popularity contest next year, like 2014, where a dedicated online fan base skews the results, I don’t want to see a coronation of a bad act like boys and noise next year.
The jury did not do it’s job in 2014 by putting Freaky Fortune 1st.
There were rumours at the time about tamta representing Greece from people in the know who predicted the other participants right, appart from Barrice as Dionysus Schoinas was originally planned instead. Have to say that I think this song was better and with good staging would have come a lot higher. In hindsight it was probably wrong to pick a ballad, Greece always does much better with the televote anyway (e.g.2011,2012)so going for a jury friendly song wasn’t the best tactic and certainly didn’t pay off as some jurors put it rock bottom. It’s a better song than Maria Elena – I think it probably would’ve just missed the top 10 (Around 12-14 place)
I do want her to go to Eurovision but probably for Georgia so Demy can go for Greece next year.
I mean, it’s always the same thing.

It doesn’t matter anymore and we will never know what would have happened if different decisions were made. Next year there’s a new chance to do better.
