Twenty-year-old singer Leonor Andrade, who represented Portugal at Eurovision 2015 with “Há um mar que nos separa”, has released her follow-up single “Já conheci” (I’ve known). It comes from her debut album, which will drop shortly.

Not qualifying for the Grand Final last May only seems to have driven Leonor forward. She’s hit the studio and serves us outstanding vocal technique mixed with some electronic deep bass. It’s an innovative style, which many Portuguese Eurofans will likely want to hear on the European stage in the coming years. Throw in a bleeding heart and lyrics that smack of disappointment and hurt, and Leonor just mesmerizes! Sorry to say it, but, baby, we love to see you in pain.

Leonor rocks a black dress as she shouts out her painful past surrounded by darkness. Her penetrating gaze will make you melt at the same time the chorus leaves you hypnotized. Are we experiencing the birth of a new European pop star? We’ll call her Leonor 2.0.

random.sage2.0- Demi Lovato? Why do you say it? For me the “Demi Lovato” of Eurovision is the Elhaida “I’m alive”.
But I understand you because music is boring for you, by the fact of being a foreign language.

Still boring.

BUT BETTER THAN HER ESC ENTRY!

Hopefully, she’ll experiment with new styles or be that Portuguese Demi Lavato like everyone thinks she is.

@bigboss – Fair enough. I just think that on a music website, that if everyone is just commenting about how good every song is, it would be a bit boring to read. When as an artist, you put music out into the world, there are always going to be people who like it or dislike it. It is not quite the same as being ugly as there is always a way to improve your music. I, for example, like leonor. I think she has a great look and a nice voice but I have not liked any of her songs… Read more »

@Briekimchi, simple, when i don´t like something i just ignore it, if you don´t like and put horrible, well that`s a kind of lack of education and character. understood? human character is a great stuff, but i learned also that is not for all, thats why this world are worst everyday. if you don´t like, don´t comment stupid and rude things, just turn the page and go on!! imagin that you are ugly… if i see you on the street should i say it to you? or its better not to look at you? understand the point of view?

@Mario ~ Where Are You Portugal? well as you can see Leonor she´s a great artist, she doesn´t need Eurovision to be it. and you speak not good things about it, so i ask you, do you compose music like this at the age of 20 like her? guess not! maybe is better for you to come back to planet and realise that when people have value, we should give them value and honestly Leonor is a top artist. if you don´t like to recognize value on others thats your problem, but anyway, this song, Já Conheci, is not for… Read more »

@Mario and yet I bet you would be the first one to whine if Portugal were to withdraw from your ‘Vision’ because of bad results

Mario ~ Where Are You Portugal?

Really makes you wonder when Portugal has participated 48 times in our Vision and the best ever result 4 Portuguese is just the poor 6th place only! And they always send songs that are not good enough even 4 the qualification to the final alone.. No wonder why Portugal is from my least liked countries in the Vision.. Portugal’s entry this year was just total outsider 4 one more time and i was no surprised really.. I have listened to it ony few times & it was too boring to bear.. It was no injustice at all that Leonor did… Read more »

@bigboss – Why does somebody need to grow up for not liking a song?
Like her Eurovision entry, the song itself just does not seem to go anywhere. I actually quite like her voice and hope she keeps experimenting until she finds the style that suits her. She is only 20 afterall!

”Poor” Leonor…She finished just 14th on the SF & Portugal did not pass to the final 4 one more gazzilionth time..
At first i kinda liked her but then i did not feel the same towards her..

Curiosity about this – Leonor wrote the song and lyrics, the piano sound is her playing and the co-production also, all to do a sound with this maturity, and she´s only 20 Y. Great stuff, valuable girl.

@EscPetit, you think she should record in English? please give her feedback on her oficial page, it is important that feedback.

The Portuguese broadcaster (and whoever is responsible for their ESC songs) isn’t capable at all to follow their musical industry standards. I mean, they have great artists, but they fail to show them to Europe… year after year, decade after decade.
This is a great song, something I wouldn’t mind to listen to every once in a while. Good job Leonor.

Thank you Wiwiblogs, as soon Leonor releases her album ( after mastering in Abbey Road Studios) , a few free copy`s will be send to you, this song is more melancholic but the album will be very powerful, with some dancable songs, ( she confessed she is tempted to record a few songs in English – Electronic urban pop with R&B and Fado influences.
