Eurovision’s national selection season is brutal. Sometimes amazing songs that could contend for the Top 10 at Eurovision don’t make it out of their home country, either owing to a strong field (or, in some cases, a misguided televote or jury). But now — for the 29th year — the OGAE Second Chance Contest is giving acts that didn’t advance from the Eurovision national selections a chance to shine. After Helena Paparizou’s victory last year it’s time to crown the new queen (or king). Will Mariette make it two in a row for Sweden, notching the country’s tally up to 13? Or will one of the other 17 countries take home the trophy?

We will have to wait until the OGAE groups have voted, along with this year’s guest juries which are Andorra, Belgium, Estonia, France, Israel, Luxembourg, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Russia, Spain, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Turkey.

Below you can listen to all of the entries in the official running order. What do you think? Who should win the OGAE Second Chance Contest 2015? Let us know by voting in our poll. You can vote for as many entries as you like, but you can only vote ONE time. Be sure to check the box next to every entry you want to support before submitting your votes.

@Alex: I always thought L-Ahwa (with Gianluca and his siblings) should have gone to Vienna over anyone else in Malta. He proved himself the first time at ESC. Why he got buried in next-to-last at MESC, I don’t know.

Be that as it may, with this collection of artists for the OGAE 2nd-Chance, I saw it this way: (1) DEN, (2) AUT, (3) SLO, (4) GER, (5) SWE, (6) FIN, (7) MLT, (8) BLR, (9) NOR, (10) GRE. Anne Gadegaard simply had the most interesting song in this roster.

I think that Greece, Italy, Albania, Germany and Portugal are better than their actual entries. Especially Germany and Portugal are fantastic songs!

Guys, selections are missing because they come under the “Rest of the World” OGAE category. Not every country has an OGAE group, so only one of them can represent the rest of the world part, and in this case it’s Belarus who are. That’s why there is no Iceland or Switzerland.

@Daniel: Andreas Kümmert won Unser Song and immediately decided not to participate in Eurovision, giving his spot to Ann Sophie, who was 2nd. The 2 semifinalists who were knocked out before the final showdown were Alexa Feser and Laing. Fahrenhaidt was knocked out in the first round, despite being the bookies’ favorite to win.

If the OGAE had limited this contest to 2nd-place finishers, Jon Henrik Fjällgren would have been the Swedish entry and Anastasiya Malaskevich would have been the Belarussian entry.

Oh I liked the Belarus one too! It is the sort of song that was missing from this year’s contest.

I thought it was the contest for the acts that placed 2nd in the national final? Then if so, why is it Kat Mohan for Ireland and not Farenhaidt for Germany?

CookyMonzta

How did they arrive at choosing Alexa Feser as the German second-chance contender? I thought Fahrenhaidt was the people’s choice in the eyes and ears of many.

Denmark to win.
I do not like the Sweden choice. Would have preferred Jon Henrik or Isa.

My favourite song from the national finals came from Switzerland. Arbresha’s “Same Stars” is brilliant but it is not included. In fact the whole country is missing.
My second favourite came from Iceland. It’s Cadem’s “Fyrir Alla”. Again the song & the country is missing. What is going on?
Of the nominated songs I voted for Norway, Finland, Denmark & Italy.
No more Rybak songs, please. They suck.

@Mario
Thanks! 🙂 Molly was my 3rd favorite from the national final, was really expecting Erika or Nikki, I hope they try again next year. But yeah, it was Ireland’s strongest national final in years I think. We usually only have 1 decent act competing, which usually ends up winning. Its usually the best of a bad bunch. But apart from the rapper, RTE had a strong selection. Kat Mahon though…good voice, boring song and of course anyone has a shoulder, we all do.

@ Darren
You had really cool songs in your NF this year…{except that fifth song of the douche obnoxious rapper that totally ruined it..}
Pity that the least good song from the 4 won to represent Ireland in the Vision & that was Molly’s…I liked more all of the other 3 songs..

@ Darren
Yeah i agree…Both Nikki’s & Erika Selin’s songs were great ones..
Nikki’s *Memories* is my #2nd most liked song of the whole NF season of EuroVision 2015 <3

Although there are good/great songs in this bunch of OGAE second chance many others that are from my most liked ones are not in this list though..

Ireland should have went with Nikki Kavanagh or Erika Selin in the second chance round, that song from Kat Mahon was boring as hell, dont know how it ended up second. Nikki and Erika had great songs and if it wasnt for the weak vocals on the night, they could have done well in Vienna, but…this is Ireland, nothing ever goes to plan here lol 😛

Voted for Albania- Lindita’s song is just absolute perfection. A lot of the countries here picked the wrong songs, though.
Finland: “Mustelmat” – Siru
Slovenia: “Glas Srca” – Jana Sustersic
Ireland: “Break Me Up” – Erika Selin
Greece: “Jazz And Sirtaki” – Thomai Apergi
Latvia: “Nefelibata” – MNTHA
Malta: “Rush” – Christabelle

Shaya – Sunshine (If you see the video from the audience on youtube, she sounded not bad. It was the sound-quality of TV and stream)
Lindita – Ste fal (Good song and she was at least able to get the notes right)
Anne Gadegaard – Suitcase (Relaxing song, that is very likebale for a lot of people)
Milki – Accent (A very cultural song, that would of get to the final)

Alex
Alex

Oh yeah, also Latvia should’ve gone with the surreal MNTHA and “Nefelibata.”

Alex
Alex

Finland should have picked Siru and “Mustelmat” instead, I think. The song is just too good, even if the live performance was unusual and didn’t make the final.

Others I would’ve preferred:
Slovenia: Rudi Bucar, “Saltinka”
Malta: L-Ahwa, “Beautiful to Me” or Jessika, “Fandango”

Once again, my favorites are near the bottom. I voted for Malta and Serbia. “Still here” was better than the version of “Warrior” that was in the national final. As for Serbia, the 2nd Chance song was good, but Bojana’s song (in Serbian) was better.

My points would be (not counting my own country, Sweden):
12: Latvia
10: Albania
8: Austria
7: Moldova
6: Serbia
5: Finland
4: Denmark
3: Portugal
2: Lithuania
1: Italy
Nearly every country picked the wrong song, but I do think Sweden will win again. Mariette was in my Top 3 of Melodifestivalen 2015 and she’s my favourite of OGAE Second Chance 2015. The Slovenian, Irish, Greek, Belarusian, Norwegian, and Maltese songs were all some of my least favourites from their respective national selections.

My favourite ESC country Albania never fails to impress. Italy has the advantage of the world’s most beautiful and expressive language. One year very soon Lithuania’s efforts will pay off. Lovely Mariette. I feel like Erlend Bratland’s shoes was just a number too big (or small). Never could stand Ryback and why is that meh poprock representing Finland when they have fabulous EDM opera slay everything in its way?

A lot of favorites here but many countries here had better songs in their selection and yet not represented here. – Malta should be represented here by Christabelle. Even Fandango was better than Still here. – Germany had better options (not a lot of better options, but better than whatever is here. – Norway: Mehh, overrated. Rather have Karin Park or the pizza song. – Sweden: I like Marietta but looks predictable they’ll win again. – Greece: I agree with Sunshine, shame she was horrible live. They all were but Maria. – Latvia: Tough choice, they had a good final.… Read more »
