Ukraine may have taken a break from Eurovision 2015, but they’re not sitting out Junior Eurovision this year. The National Television Company of Ukraine has officially confirmed Ukraine’s participation in the contest in November.

The national selectional process kicks off today, with young Ukrainian singers aged 10-15 now able to submit their applications. The semifinal will take place on 25 July, with the finalists chosen by a jury. Details of the final are yet to be confirmed by the broadcaster.

Ukraine have participated in JESC every year since 2006, making 2015 their 10th appearance. They won in 2012 with Anastasiya Petryk singing “Nebo”, they’ve placed second twice and hosted the contest twice. With Ukraine set to be return to Eurovision 2016, their continued involvement in Junior Eurovision is a very good sign.

@D

Russia was one of the last ones to confirm last year too, so I think they might confirm last again. I think Junior Eurovision is popular there, so I don’t see a reason why they wouldn’t participate.

I really hope Russia isn’t withdrawing. They’re one of my favourite (J)ESC countries and we haven’t heard anything from them yet.

Ukraine’s 2012 song was a real game changer for JESC. It began a trend of more mature-sounding songs winning.

The Winning song *Nebo* of Ukraine in the Junior Vision of 2012 is the most spectacular live performance in history of the Junior Vision! <3 Along with the winning song of Espana in the Junior Vision of 2004! <3 The russian song in the same contest with *Nebo* was really great as well <3 Really pity that the russian talented fabulous girl Lerika was unlucky to compeat against *Nebo* Anastasia Petryk.. I want to see both Anastasia & Lerika compeating in the adult Vision! <3 🙂 Lerika is now 16 so she is eligible to finally enter! She can even… Read more »

If just 11 countries were about to participate in Bulgaria’s JESC this means that ALL the songs/countries there would receive points and that would suck big time…
Like having the worst song that still would be last to manage taking single 1 point though..! 😛

So now we have 12 participating countries in the upcoming Bulgaria’s Junior Vision.. We will see if Ukraine has what it takes to win for a 2nd time & enter in the club along with Belarus & Georgia with the multi winners countries that have won the JUnior Vision more than once.. But we have to hear all the songs first to have full picture about the hot favorites of winning the Junior Vision.. At least now with one more country confirming its participation we won’t have an all time negative record with the fewest ever countries taking part in… Read more »
