Fans who came to love Stig Rästa at Eurovision 2015 may not know this, but there was life before Elina BornLots of it. Between 2002 and 2006 Stig was a member of the group Slobodan River and, since 2006, he has played with the group Traffic. They’ve just released a video for their latest song “Sekundiga” (Seconds). It’s a toe-tapping, head-bopping feel-good anthem that features more than three dozen Estonian slebs, many of whom you’ll recognise from Eurovision or Eesti Laul. We’ve only watched the video once, but we’ve already spotted Tanja Mihhailova, Getter Jaani, Ott Lepland, and Elina Born.

Writing on their Facebook page, Traffic sent a shout-out to all those A-listers who took the time to sing the song.

“Here it is — our new single and music video, with a little more than 40 well-known Estonian people. If you like it as much as us, feel free to share it with your friends, too…we would like to thank everyone who did the video with us. A deep bow and a big thank you!”

Do you like Stig as part of Sekundiga? Or would you prefer him to focus on solo work? Let us know in the comments box below!

mind meelitad enda juurde tagasi.
Kui näib mul viimaks, et hakkan toibuma,
siis lihtsalt lambist jälle plahvatad.

MA JOOKSEN NELJA ILMAKAARDE, PÕGENEN MA SIIT,
HAIHTUN TOLMUKÜBEMEKS RAAMATURIIULIL.
TEIST SINUSUGUST TUNDNUD MA EI OLE IIALGI,

All the people that big Eurovision fans may recognize (although yes, all the people that appeared in the video are well-known in Estonia): 1. 0:3 Traffic, of course – They’ve been in Eesti Laul a few times (most recently in 2014 with Für Elise) and Stig has also appeared in Eesti Laul with Outloudz in 2011. 2. 0:19 Hanna-Liina Võsa – In the 1997 selection. She sang “Liiga noor, et armuda” with Pearu Paulus. Now she mostly sings in all the biggest musicals here. 3. 0:21 Kristjan Kasearu – In the 2007 song selection. He sang “Romeo ja Julia” with… Read more »

This makes me happy. Reminds me of how I wanted to know all about ESC in the 2000s instead of starting in 2012. Especially wanting to watch Getter Jaani on stage live and knowing some national finalists as well.

You know what’s weird? One of these clips was taken near to my house and another clip in this vid was taken right across the street from my school plus Tanel Padar (the guy who won in 2002 @ 1:29) used to be my next door neighbour.

this just shows you how fricking small Estonia is 😀

I loved the music video, great idea! Shame Sandra Nurmsalu from Urban Symphony wasn’t there though 🙁

Maarja-Liis Ilus, who performed solo in 1997, and Ivo Linna who duetted in 1996 with Maarja …I wish Koit Tomme was here too .. the 90s Estonia remain by favourite until Ott came with “Kuula” in 2012.

ESTONIA was the #1 GreAtY hot favorite to win the whole Vision when *GoodBye To Yesterday* won the Eesti Laul! 🙂 The eurofans were getting all crazy and Estonia was hyped like crazy to come victorious in Vienna’s Vision! 🙂 But all this hyped noise started to getting less when other also great songs like Italy & Sweden were selected.. Pity that Elina with Stig did not good enough on the juries.. In the juries, they finished just 9th on the SF! That was really big shock! On the final the juries ranked them 11th with only 53 points! Thankfully… Read more »
