Eurovision 2015 marked the first time that all three Baltic nations — Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania — qualified for the grand final. Latvia’s Aminata Savadogo led the way, coming second with the jury and finishing sixth overall. Pre-contest favourites Elina & Stig from Estonia also slayed, coming seventh.

We had hoped this Baltic Revival would extend to Junior Eurovision 2015 and that we’d see these three countries in Sofia. Alas, Latvia and Lithuania, both of whom withdrew after the 2011 contest, have already said they won’t return. And today wiwibloggs can exclusively reveal that Estonia, which has never participated, will not debut this fall in Bulgaria.

In response to wiwibloggs’ question of participation, Mart Normet, the head of Estonia’s Eurovision delegation, responded as follows: “No, sorry. We will not participate in JESC.”

So there you have it. We will not see a mini Elina & Stig in Sofia. But perhaps we’ll see a mini Tanja in the future?

I don’t think Estonia will ever compete in Junior Eurovision. Why? Too little interest
