Earlier this week Stockholm Pride 2015 unfurled like a glamorous pink carpet — and inside was a star-studded cast of Melodifestivalen stars, including Melfest 2015 breakout singer Mariette. She recently released “My Revolution,” which is the official song of Stockholm Pride 2015. It’s a dance track with an empowering message of changing the world and acceptance. On trend, mama!
The music video profiles many members of the LGBTQ community across many sexual orientations, gender identities, and ethnicities, profiling the diversity of the LGBTQ population not only in Sweden, but also globally. Mariette eventually leads a group through the streets of Stockholm to a rooftop where they all dance in happiness and celebration of who they are. Mariette sure didn’t stop believing!
Mariette initially gained fame in Sweden for her appearance on the 2009 season of Idol, but her popularity really soared this year when she placed 3rd in Melodifestivalen this year with “Don’t Stop Believing”. We remember her powerful message with eery music and an even more interesting visual presentation. She also slayed at the afterparty!
Mariette is openly bisexual, and was even named “homo of the year” at the QX Gaygala in Stockholm in 2010, solidifying her role in Sweden’s LGBTQ community. What a great candidate for this song!
My Revolution Lyrics — Mariette
What if this is my revolution, revolution?
I took the wrong train, didn’t care just too much about it.
It was a Tuesday.
Looked out the window,
wondering where the hell I’d gone.
Not much left to say.
A sense of something I’ve been missing,
I’ve never seen it so clear.
Stepped in the sunlight,
looking up to the sky and thought
“I think it’s my time”.
What if this is my revolution, revolution? (x2)
I started running,
thinking of all the shit I pulled, all of the lying.
No more denying, gotta stay true to what I feel,
no need to fight it.
‘Cause the times have changed and we’re not the same
but I’ll be okay.
Stepped in the sunlight, looking up to the sky and thought
“I think it’s my time”.
What if this is my revolution, revolution? (x2)
What if every heartbeat tells a truth?
What if this is my revolution, revolution? (x6)
What if every heartbeat tells the truth?
What if this is my
revolution,
revolution? (this is my)
Revolution

Lets hope Mariette will return next year, with a song as great as Don’t stop believing.
This was the very first year I participated in the Stockholm Pride, and it was lovely! Sadly, I missed all the Eurovision- and Melfest-related performances, but there’s always next year! They also played a lot of Eurovision music during the parade, and I might’ve gotten a little too excited when they played “This Time”. 😀
Mariette is great, and I wish her all the best. I really liked “Don’t Stop Believing”, I actually preferred it over the eventual winner. 🙂
I wouldn’t mind if she represented Sweden next year, with the right song she could potentially do very well.
go Mariette
