Svergies Radio has announced the eight lucky acts who have made it to the final of Svensktoppen nästa 2016 — Swedish Radio P4’s nationwide talent hunt. Melodifestivalen often features familiar names, but Svensktoppen nästa is all about new blood. LET IT FLOW, WE SAY!

A total of 845 artists and groups put their songs forward through the spring and summer of 2015 for this year’s competition.

Carolina Norén, Rita Jernquist and Kerstin Behrendtz, Christer Björkman, Mari Ryberger and Maths Broborg formed an expert jury which picked the finalists from the 25 local winners.

The winner of the competition will have the opportunity to perform as one of the 28 contestants in Melodifestivalen 2016 when the Eurovision selection sensation returns in the spring. Usually they bomb. Last year’s winner Kalle Johansson performed during Deltävling 3 of Melodifestivalen 2015 and came sixth. Out of seven acts. And looked like he had been given 10 kroner for his stage show. But at least he beat Andreas Johnson.

Svensktoppen nästa 2015: Finalists

Michael Fannon – KOMMER TID, KOMMER RÅD

Sofia Sandberg-Albihn – THE SUNNY SIDE

Smajling Swedes – GOOSEBUMBS

Fanny Nilsson – ALONE

Jens Sporron – MAKE A MISTAKE

Miss Winter – THE ROAD

Jawone – FRÄMLING

Laila Adele – BLAME IT ALL ON YOU

How can you vote in Svensktoppen nästa?

You can now vote for the acts by SMS until September 6. The winner will be announced during the final of Liseberg.

goosebumps, blame it all on you, and sunny side are the only songs that I can see going far imo–none seem like all-out winners of melfest, but I’m guessing the field might be weaker this year since Sweden just won so you never know

first ranking of the season already wow seems like it was May 23 just yesterday so excited to maybe finally go through an entire year of preselections from Skopje Fest to NMGP, last year I missed Lithuania’s and Macedonia’s I think anyways, to rank these potential contenders: 1) Laila Adele–same vibes as Molly Pettersson-Hammar (arguably Adele does it better even though ‘I’ll Be Fine’ was one of my favorite songs last year,) nice retro feel to it, I love it! First 10/10 of the year, and first addition to my Eurovision 2016 playlist; she better qualify to Melfest. 2) Sunny… Read more »

I would love to see Sofia go through. Beautiful tone to her voice, that paired with a new killer song would be a nice change of pace for Sweden.

Guys remember that the winner will compete with a new written song in Melodifestivalen, not the one competing here. Therefore I think they should focus more on the artist rather than the songs, cause all of them are bland and dated..

You say “kroner” in norwegian and danish as their currency is called “krone”. In swedish on the other hand, the currency is called “krona” and the correct translation for “ten crowns” is “10 kronor” 🙂

Not the greatest selection, but promising. Michael Fannon, Kommer Tid, Kommer Råd, 7/10, Good voice, Good beat with fun song, but a little dated Sofia Sandberg-Albihn, The Sunny Side, 7.5/10, I love a bit of retro piano pop balad, A mixture of Duffy and Paloma Faith, again a bit dated A bit of a lacklustre ending. Smajling Swedes, Goosebumps, 5.5/10 Not a big fan of a sun that sounds like it suits Ibiza. The pipe like instrument is really annoying. For the type of music it’s not bad. Fanny Nilsson, Alone, 6/10, Quite a generic Melfest ballad, not bad, but… Read more »
