Sound the sirens, throw out the confetti and blast your #mello playlist from the speakers: SVT has just opened the window for songs submissions for Melodifestivalen 2016.
Songs can be submitted for Sweden’s biggest TV show until September 16 at 8:59am. If you are a minute late you are out.
Songs will be submitted across an amateur and professional selection, with 28 acts (including the winner of Svensktoppen Nasta) making the first cut for four semi-finals to be held in spring 2016 across Sweden.
The last time Sweden hosted the Eurovision Song Contest, Robin Stjernberg won Melodifestivalen with “You” and shocked spectators by coming back from Andra Chansen to win the entire competition.
Speculation on which acts will put songs forward for the competition is heating up, and several former acts have been spotted recording in recent weeks. Here are some of our picks.
SVT will announce the full lineup in the autumn (last year they unveiled 28 acts including Måns Zelmerlöw and Eric Saade in November!).

I think there’s a chance to see Petra Marklund, Agnes, Miss Li, Dinah Nah and Gabriel Alares (the guy who penned “A Million Voices” and “What If” for Russia this year and in 2013 respectively) in MF 2016. Molly PH will definitely be back, and I imagine Christer will be extra nice to her this time around and give her a late running order in whatever semi she ends up in.
I hope Molly P-H will come back, if so I’ll be fine.
