Russia’s Polina Gagarina has fame, skill, and passion — and now it’s time to share all of that with the country’s aspiring pop stars. Polina, who came second at Eurovision 2015, is the newest judge on the Russian edition of “The Voice“. Get ready to watch her turn!
“The Voice” has always had strong ties with Eurovision in Russia. Dima Bilan, who won Eurovision back in Belgrade in 2008, served as a judge for the show’s first three seasons. However, time moves on and new stars rise. Polina, who actually earned more points than Dima did at Eurovision, has stolen the spotlight and now kicked him out of the coach’s chair!
Dima is gone, but not forgotten. He and producers played a little gag on the audience during the blind auditions on Friday when he auditioned. None of the coaches turned their chairs, even though Polina was on the edge of pushing the button. All of the coaches threw major shade on their former colleague (but they were just kidding).
There’s another connection between “The Voice” and Eurovision. Dina Garipova, who sang for Russia in Malmö, was the first ever winner of the show. Even so it’s very unlikly Russia’s 2016 singer will come from the series. That’s because Rossiya (VGTRK), which is responsible for ESC this year, doesn’t broadcast “The Voice”. And Channel One, the station that does air it, has stated in the past that they do not want to use the format to choose their Eurovision acts any more.

@ Elina Just chill…It was totally normal 4 Polina to feel nervous & be like that…Like a fish out of the sea.. Everyone would feel the same if was in her shoes.. Give it just few time & Polina will manage to adapt & gain her self confidence.. She still is not so experienced with media as others are {like Dima} that count much experience with many years of public tv exposure & do not face hard time to talk on camera live on teleVision..
